how far away should males be?

I kept one male for seeds, and I have it sitting in a pot about 20 feet away from my girls--is that too close? The male has pretty many pollen sacs right now and the females have been flowering about 2 weeks. Should I move the male away? Is it too late (I am in N.E. US)?

if u wanna collect pollen take some cut some if it's balls of CAREFULLY!!! put it into a ziploc bag in a cool dry place, the balls will open and release pollen then either kill the male plant or make hash (u won't get alot though)

Your female could get pollen on them from many diffrent ways othern then wind such as bees birds any kind of bug so I would get it the hell out of there bet it proubly already has pollen on it so you might as well keep the seeds for next year. What kind of seed will it be. If its something good them do not worry about it. Good luck

Thanks everyone--but if I kill the male, where will I get seeds from? I guess maybe at this point my Females will probably have some, huh?

Also, why would I want to collect pollen?

Apologies-this is my first ever grow-I am reading all of the great info on this site, but never saw anything about these issues...

depends on if you want seeds or not, that would be the use of collecting pollen, for example if you wanted to cross strains to create a hybrid, but if your pollen sacs have already opened then you most likely will get seeds

Say your female is in you garden....well the male should be in the rubbish container on the way to the landfill, yeah, that should be far enough away.

one male plant can fertilize a whole plantation of females...no doubt that all your girls are full of seed now...im rure that seeds were not what you wanted, but since you already have seeds you might as well see it through.if its something that your fond of smokeing at least youll always have it to grow again.
