There're about 25 threads on this very subject. Do a quick search or vist the FAQs, you'll find your answer with pics.

Each plant and strain is different. Some can take months to show early sex, some can take a couple weeks.

thanks hearmenow i had already read that and i still cant see where it says how early
ganjagod my plant is in the greenhouse so just gets natural light and as for strain im not sure as they were given to me as seeds

What you want is alternating nodes. This tells you it's ready to be flowered. You change light to 12/12 and then you should see some tiny little spike come out. If these little spikes have a little ball on the base, chances are it's a male. You'll need magnification to tell. If it's a female and the plant is still small at that point, you can revert back to vegging. Personally, I would just wait until you can definitively tell the sex. This will usually occur after about 2 weeks of flowering. That's not a rule of thumb but just a guide.

So that could be quite a while in the greenhouse? I hope it is female if i have to mess about with it for a long time

Bif, I know how you feel. I think we all do. Unfortunately that's how it goes. You have a 50-50 chance of a female. There is another excellent post that outlines additional steps you can take to enhance your chances of a female. There are no guarantees but it's worth a shot. For reference, I started with 7 plants and 5 made it all the way to the flowering stage. Of those 5, 2 turned out to be female. Another poster on here started with 4 and all 4 were female. Luck of the draw....

Thanks hearmenow ,fingers crossed then i suppose, but on closer inspection it does seem to have a couple of pistles coming out of the join between the stem and the branch,i will see if i can take a picture

Well if your plant is at least 8-10 inches there is a way to sex them at any point.Heres what you will do.Take a clone from the plant and get it prepped and going. The clone should take about 5-7 days to root.Once good roots come through ( take a good size clone like 4 inches total from an off shoot) you want to transplant the clone into a small pot of dirt.Wait about 3-4 days then your going to take the clone and put it into a 12/12 light cycle. For this a simple cheap florscent tube light is fine. Then for the dark time a box over the plant to keep it dark will work. The clone will show its sex in 3-7 days and whatever the clone shows thats what the original plant will be.If clone shows male kill the original and start again. If its a female well your mom is now a known female and you can take more clones for more known female plants or your now good into veg and ready for 12/12 whenever you decide and know you got a little girl going into it.

thanks filthyflech ,boy do i wish mine was 8-10 inches:mrgreen: i did post a pic but it is not on here i dont know where it went:-? i used the bit at the top of the page and put it under plant problems if anyone would be so kind as to have a look and tell me what they think

No height limits as such just the size of the greenhouse which is about 8/9 foot at the tallest part
