How do you mix your nutrients?

How does everyone measure there water/nutes/ph balancer and mix it all? Gallon jug and teaspoons then shake it all up and dump it into reservoir? This is for dwc. I’m sure there’s some easier methods.

I mix it up in the resevoir...pour all of your water in, then add up how many total mL's you need per gallon of water in your system. Oral syringes and droppers make this process much easier if using liquid nutes. I find mixing up each individual gallon jug to be not very pheasable time wise unless you're doing a soil grow.

Add the nutrients to your water. Take a pH measurement and then adjust and do it a little at a time till you get to your desired pH level. My personal experience is that over the useful course of your Rez your pH will rise up so I like to set my pH on the low send of my range and once it’s above where I want it change the Rez. In dwc I don’t like to readjust the pH but that’s a choice you make depending on your Rez philosophy. Just go with the 100% and dump? Use through the whole cycle etc.

Base mix, then magnesium sulfate, and calcium nitrate last, added to the reservoir one at a time. Never mix concentrates together.
If you use potassium silicate, add that first.

What about Cali mag? If I’m running gh 3 part. I run 1/2 the recommend strength and it seems to be about right for my set up. But I’m never sure how much Cali mag I should use. So I generally just put 1/2 tsp per gallon regardless. Unless it’s a seedling. The bottle doesn’t have a dosing chart. How much do you guys use. It’s gh brand also.

I Use 15-20 gallon black totes with lids, one decent sized 10-15w pond pump in the bottom running 24/7 to stir the nutes, then have some 200ml plastic beakers that I use to measure out enough nutes and dump straight into tote while it's filling up with hose, using canna coco a+b 5-10L bottles with the plastic taps that fit them. Every batch is identical now for me, which makes it easy.. I don't measure the pH down anymore I just pour it out the bottle, as it has a small hole in the top and comes out fairly slowly I just pour the same amount each time :) couldn't be easier... Might I also add that I use a blue lab pH monitor that can adjust pH for me ( haven't used this function for a while but it certainly is nice), and it reads pH and temp 24/7 so win-win

So why would you reduce the amount of cal-mag by halfing your nutes to then only buy something else to put it back in? Unless you are using R.O. I'd just stick with the 3 part and screw the cal-mag.

I built this trash can to mix my nutes in. It rides on a furniture dolly and has a pump at the bottom. Before I got to work I dump what I think I need in there and let her mix. The pump is attached to a hose that I take out and use to fill my res. Beats the 5 gallon jug.
If your using something like GH trio, silica SI and calmag, they have a certain order they must be mixed in. The only variable then is when to adjust the ph. I tried before nutes and after nutes, seemed to make no difference. Just dont dump your PH adjusters in straight. If you do, you will get this cloudy white precipitate that will fuck your mix up to the point you have to dump it. LOL been there.

I cut a small flap in the lid so I could bring the hose out, but not have dust and stuff get in there.WP_20180822_07_11_33_Pro.jpg WP_20180822_07_11_13_Pro.jpg

I use tap water (mine is 100ppm and 6.8ph) add 3g of jacks and 1g of mag... job done.. jacks is just amazing... (the 3 and 1 is cause i use slightly less than 1 gallon at a time, so no 3.6 1.2
