How do you like to dry your buds...

So i was curious to know how do you guys like to dry your buds. Do you dry the whole plant completely upside down or do you trim and put them straight onto the drying racks.. For the past 3 years ive been using a spinpro to trim and put em straight onto the drying rack. My nugs come out great but just curious to know if i am missing anything crazy when drying the whole entire plant upside down?

Spin Pro cant remove trim leaf like a hand trim. Not even close. But it takes me 10x longer to trim. But I get scissor hash, FTW.

I hand trim, dry on horizontal screens, cure in mason jars.

i take off as much stem and leave em in mesh sock holder with a fan set to low in a dark room for 3 days, then brown paper bag for a day or two, and finally jar it and leave the lid cracked open for like 4-5 hours a day for 2 weeks or so, and a paper towel on the lid of your jar can speed up this process or if you put rice in a screen on the lid itll suck out excess moisture in the air.
leaving the entire plant hanging upside down wont do anything except make the drying process much longer, stem recesses much moisture that redistributes back into buds once theyre in cure, and when you got moisture in a mason jar youll have nothing but problems from there on, smell will be funky and mold will likely occur if the jar isn't aired out enough.

I keep trying to slow my dry time. They hang 7-10 days. go into buckets and get dumped twice a day for another 7 or so days. then dump once a day til moisture is right. I'll let you know how it turns out. been sealed for about a week now. nice smell and getting better. A few strains are tasty and smooth now. others are still a bit harsh. color is outstanding.

If you have moisture in a mason jar, you didn't let them dry enough. Mason jars are the perfect curing jar, though.

Its gonna be my first harvest this time. But im gonna use an 8tier drying rack with good air circulation with temps around 21 degrees c which will keep the humidity down to around 40 i would say. Am i looking about 7 days for drying??

How long they take to dry is affected by bud density and RH. How fat are those buds?
Yo man! Thanks for getting back to me. This pic was taken last week and they are currently in week 7, im guessing theyv got another week left or so considering this was taken last week. Would love your opinion though! Cheers brother

Drying and curing are a two-part process -- drying to remove moisture and curing to make sure the product is unformly dry.

Drying removes 95% of the unwanted moisture. But then you have the small buds completely dry and the bigger nugs still
drying. That's when we seal the product in a mason jar and leave sealed for 12-24 hours. Being sealed makes whatever moisture
still present to spread out evenly throughout the product. Check the next day and decide if the product is suitable. If not, leave the jar open and unsealed
for 24 hours to dry more. Seal again and check again. Repeat until you like what you got.

BigSteve.

well thats what i like to do, i dry my buds on the rack for like 2-3 days put them in manson jars and lay them all out on the table for air out every 12 hours for 10 min and i repeat that for 8 days. after than i let them sit sealed in jars for as long as i can... my drying humidity is 75 with an rh of 50 which is best.... thanks for the reply though guys ..

I dry for 5-6 day the whole plant. ~72F 47% humidty. Then I hand trim and let them cure in paper bagsfor a few days. Next buds go in to turkey bags..My head smoke goes into mason jars. Man i hate hand trimming but there is nothing that can do it better! Its ashame to from some fire meds and then have it look like shiot from a bad trimming job!

I harvest over a week 1 plant at a time. cut the fan leaves off of the plants while they are still in the pot, then I cut the plant down and trim it branch by branch. I cut a branch trim it hang it on a coat hanger with a clothes pin, once the hanger has about 6 - 8 branches (1plant usually) hanging from it I hang it in my walk in closet for 5-7 days depending on how they feel. I like them to feel crispy on the outside but have somemoisture left in the bud. I cut the buds from the branches and put em in jars from there then open and stir em around every day until they are dry. if they are overly moist I might leave a jar open over night then close it in the morning.

I trim the whole plant, placing buds into a plastic tub. Take the tub to my veg room that has my mesh dry racks. The main buds ( the best 4-7) hang on a wire with a couple inches of stem left on (those are the prized ones). The rest go onto the mesh rack for 36-48 hours. I dont like mason jars, I use Lid Lock glass containers Screen Shot 2012-11-26 at 9.30.52 PM.jpg(hold about 5-6 oz dried). So I put the newly dried buds in the Lid Locks for the duration and open whenever I feel softness again until I notice no change in dryness. Then I keep it closed for days at a time an just burp it for a few minutes a week.

let me tell you something. my first grow i hand trimmed 10 plants and it was hell for me.. ive been using a spin pro trimmer for a while now and my buds come out beautiful like magic. don't get me wrong some orange hairs fall off as you can see them on the rim of the trimmer but its all worth it because at the end my buds are fire. not no regs smell..

This is what i aim to do slow dry... do you have to use a dehumidifier?

Hang them 7-10 days with a slight trim done (big fan leaves) then trim all the way once dry and cure for about 2 weeks to 1 month slow dry and long cure ensure the best smoke
