How do you know when a 1000w MH bulb is dead?

Heres what happened...

lights come on at 3 but I didnt wake til 4, so 1 hour with 2, 1000w lights (one a HPS) on inside sealed hoods with no air flow...

A few minutes ago the bulb went dim then a few minuts later it went out...then came back on and now its gone all together.

Burnt out bulb? Doesn't look like it.

Should I toss my $120 HPS bulb now?

Fuck:wall: I need more timers

Also just a foot away from the same bulb my highest registered temp last night was 89 at about the same time the vent fan WASN'T running.

You got 2 1000. Do a little trial and error test by switching the bulbs between ballast. If the problem moves with the bulb its the bulb. If the problem stays it a ballast problem.
