Well... when all the pistols change color you are safe to pull it. But.... save yourself the trouble and go get a 60x-100x scope from Radio Shack for like 13 bucks!!

I agree with engineer. You can also go to ebay or amazon and search for a 30x or 45x jewelers loupe. I bet you can find a good one in one of those places for less than $5, shipping included. In the usa they will usually ship it fast enough that it will be in your mailbox within 2 or 3 days.

sick what exactly is the scope called?
It's intended for looking at microelectronic circuits. The brand name is Radio Shack. This is what it looks like:

I'm not sure what it's called though. To use it- cut a very small piece of leaf matter off the plant and put it on a white piece of paper. If you try to just look at the plant it is nearly impossible to get it focused.

your camera is your best bet.

change setting to Superfine, and use the largest size photo possible for your camera. In macro mode, take as close a shot as you can, then check the results on your computer.

This always works for me. I never use a microscope anymore.

As long as their is sufficient lighting it should work fine.

Only problem is you got such a small view and have to almost squash the trichomes to see them in focus.
