How do u block out thermal imaging camaras

i just seen some1 on the show dea get caught growing by thermal imaging from a police copter, it showed the grow house glowing they used that (glowing) 2 get a warrent, is there anything 2 use 2 block out thermal imaging,also if you want 2 see the show its on spike tv its called DEA it was on 2nite and im sure it will be again soon, in info will help

I dont live in the US but from what I have read the courts have ruled the police need a warrant before they can use thermal imaging on your house.

If you're RALLY paranoid then you could use mylar to reflect the IR waves back into your space inetad of being picked up by a camera.

Besides for them to be able to see your grow you're going to need a 1000w HID light at LEAST

i just watched it on a reality show called dea they used the thermal imaging 2 GET THE WARRENT!! something must have changed, GOD THATS UGLY!!

They can get a warrant but not with that being the sole evidence. It sure helps though.

And like I said you need some serious lights with some serious heat for them to notice you ith IR scanners...

is there any way 2 bolck them out or at least drop the heat so its not as noticable

i was thinkin puttin some black pad at the top so it will reduce heat maybe??

The IR cams operate off of heat, I use Liquid cooled lights, it saves me the effort of having to run ducting to air cool my lights, and my 1000w run at 68F which is well below human body temp so I have nothing to worry about

Insulation is key, yes. But you have to cover that insulation with true mylar, not aluminum like on most insulation. Alstro-Foil is great stuff, but is pricey. It is essentially bubble-wrap coated with mylar on either side. You can go to a plumbing supply or heating and air conditioning supply warehouse (not home depot!) and pick up a generic brand at far less cost.

For those who are looking into buying a grow-tent, the new DarkRoom brand tents are AMAZING! They block over 95% of IR radiation and are very well designed, easy to set up and durable. They are also more stable than HydroHut brand, no sagging of the roof.

Now I don't say that with personal experience, just second hand but what I saw, I liked.

Fire blankets are made out of Mylar so i assume they block IR?

The deal with Mylar is that it's highly reflective. Yes, it reflects infrared radiation very well.

Thermal imaging is... Thermal...

It does not see light it sees the heat that is generated by materials. A section of wall that is 90 degrees will show up much different than a section of wall 60 degrees.

To prevent problems all you need to do is properly vent the heat generated by the lights.

A friend of mine in Ohio works on the Franklin County Sheriff helicopters who have the thermal imaging scanners on their copters.
He told me that the only thing that can absolutely block out the heat is thick concrete.
Mylar, insulation, and whatever else your thinking of trying to reflect the heat back down won't work. It will actually show up even more on their scanners.
If the Sheriff's fly over your house and pick up an image that looks to be an excessive amount of heat coming in one area, It raises suspicion, and suspicion is all it takes to start an investigation.
The sheriff's will see the heat image, then find out who lives there. Then find out if you have any kind of criminal record. They might even look through your garbage, credit records, or even follow you to get enough evidence to get a warrant.
A heat image cannot get a warrant, it starts the process of an investigation.

From what I've been told by ex-cops. The best place to put a grow room is in a basement as close to furnace as possible.
When the copters fly over the houses there should only be one heat image showing up......your furnace. If there are mutiple heat spots on your house, then it raises suspicion. Suspicion is what you want to avoid at all costs.

Also a copter thermal imaging scanner can see through the roof. and all the floors leading down to the basement. For every floor it goes through, the image gets weaker and weaker.

In theory you could vent to an open space that is even more well ventilated.

Say running an inline light/fan setup into an attic where you have another fan disperse the heat quickly.

Again, the police are not going to be able to use thermal imaging to reliably detect a small grow setup unless you have almost no insulation or heat ventilation. The shit they find is commercial grow operations set up in homes and they already know about it or can find out from the huge electrical bills or the illegal power tap.

You can buy Anti detection foil. I first heard about it on a you tube clip and my local hydro hobby has it. The older stuff looks dull in shine, but the new stuff reflects like mylar. $100 for a 50' roll.
Oh, and thermal imaging cameras can pick up a mouse at a 1000' if they have it set to that.

I saw the show too and they picked out the house from the thermals coming off the basement bricks and the fireplace (I'm assuming the grower had his venting up the chimmney). It was in Detroit. The (alleged) owner of the grow was pissed and bummed as they put him in the paddy wagon - he saw all of his girls in a pile in an evidence van. I wanted to jump into the van and SAVE them. It was terrible. But the idiot was DEALING To
