How Do I SoG?

I've seen it around. I don't have a lot of money so I can't afford to do everything I want to do to my room yet.

I'm lookin for information on how to set up a SoG system. I'm doing a hydro/LED setup (if that matters). It's not a massive grow. 1 90W LED from prosource, 2 White Widow from NirvanaShop (feminized). We haven't started yet. I'm just researching different ideas.

do you mean screen of green? you said your planning on doing 2 plants if i undestand what your saying correctly and with a sog-sea of green- you want as many small plants as you can fit in your area vegged for shorter time periods and usually lollipoping them so they only make a single cola and you get more frequent harvests of smaller plants.

I believe there are quite a few threads on SOG and SCROG.

But the general idea is to either train your plants to grow more horizontally, or bend the branches down to achieve that. Then before you flower you set up a screen or mesh netting over the top of the canopy, so that when the plants shoot up, each branch has its own little area. This method ensures that each branch has its own section, and exposes more branches to the light. This method also enables the grower to utilize more plants in a smaller space, as the plants are usually kept quite short when SOG'ing or SCROG'ing.

Sog and scrog are pretty much the same thing, except that the Scrog uses some sort of screen on the top to separate the tops and even the canopy out.

I searched and couldn't find many how to's on SoG and ScroG. Our initial grow is only going to be two plants. We only have 1 90W LED so the lighting is gonna suck. It's in an old basement that hasn't been waterproofed so I've gotta look out for mold and other things. There is money coming for each of us that will allow us to waterproof and construct the rooms and grow equipment that we would prefer, but right now I got 1 90W LED and a small hydro system to get it started.

For this initial grow, would it just be easier to ignore SoG and ScroG for now?

Look through the forums here. You'll find what you're looking for. There are plenty of explanations and tutorials everywhere, you just have to look harder I guess. SoG and SCRoG are two popular methods and I'd be shocked if you couldn't find the neccessary literature.

I've found grow journals and stuff that use it, I couldn't find an explanation of how it's done.

When I first got on here I'm pretty sure I saw a SoG and ScroG tutorial but I have since lost them. That's mainly what I've been searching for.

how long ago was this? we lost almost all of our useful info in the faq about 6-12 months back, all thats left now are scraps scattered through the forum, i'll see what i can come up with for you. heres one with some good info,

Hi man...SCROG= screen of green..Thats bending ur plants over and under the screen,making just the colas above the screen...SOG=sea of green..Thats making ur plants grow ONE cola only..To atchive this you must start 12 12 after only a small ammount of veg time.You can then have MANY plants in the same area.. Hope this helped you friend.

This is a bible on the SCROG method ill find SOG info for you but DARK D 420 summed it up in a nut shell www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/172536-good-scrog-bible.html

for a SOG grow you take a lot of 2L bottles, cut the top off and drill some drainage holes.
You fill the room with bottles, as much as you can pack, and plant a clone from the same genetics in every bottle.
Its usually much easier to run automated watering with this kind of grow.

In this kind of grow usually growth below the effective range is being plucked off. With a 400W its 70-80cm from the light. Don't have a clue about LEDs. But just pluck whatever shaded.


SCROG is training the plants on a screen, you can check my last years grow in my signature - I've used one.

Thanks bro..Me and my son made this snowman 2 years ago..We had to destroy it together,cause it made him scared.lol. kids sure is cute.
