Don't use Diatomaceous Earth with Predatory insects - the DE will shred them.

I used DE last grow and it worked, but took a few applications.
bonus - DE does supply a bit of silica to the plants.

I'm trying nematodes & predatory mites this round (names un-remembered due to bong).

If you added sand ontop on Wednesday, they'd be gone already.Single most effective way,no chemicals, easy.
25kg of playsand if like $7.
huh ok i have some greensand from DTE i might apply bu

Diatomaceous earth works best when it's dry, so repeated light applications after the topsoil has dried a bit work well-like, apply it after each time you water, once the soil dries enough not to saturate it. Just don't breath it in. I use tons of this stuff outside, I think I must live in the earwig capital of the USA-I can't grow any brassica crops at all, they are earwig magnets. Haven't made kimchi in years, so sad...

My baby seedlings are only 1 week old and they already have bug problems... soon as I sprouted my plants in my closet the gnats have made there way onto and around my soil and keep flying around everywhere very annoying... with the plants being so young I don't want to add any organic pesticides such as amazingdrzymes just to young for food, and pestices maybe should I try spreading some type of gnat nix or something minty perhaps to make them go away ? I've had fungas gnat infestations get really bad in the past when I use to over water but I've learned to not over water so much so not really sure why these guys are sticking around guess my environment is to humid, and needs more air flow but any advice helps and is appreciated!!!
I put one inch layer of sand on top of soil.but also used yellow glue traps.there attracted to yellow.as if your wondering how to tell when to water soil because of sand?feel pot weight or best of all tell my fan leaves

Mosquito bits and sticky they’ll be gone in days. I had a infestation from my living soil. Next time I’ll just mix mosquito bits in my top layer of soil from the get go.

yes or mosquito dunks crumbled up 1/2 tsp per 5gal pot mixed into soil or coco. Works 100%

mosquito bits and mosquito dunks are good and usually work. If those dont work the gnatrol will for sure in soil. If you have a reservoir and are growing in coco then all of those become less effective. For COCO you need to add Microbe Lift BTI to your res and water every day for 15 days with it.

Spinosad and Neem are effective as well.

Everything mentioned needs to be applied at least 3 times within 15 days to eradicate the life cycle.
