How big of a reservoir is overkill for 1 plant? What's the max rez size for 1 plant?

Anything over 20ltrs total volume to use 15ltrs is over kill..imo. but this can easily get cramped depending on strain and veg time.... good luck!

What are you using? 5 gallon pail with an air stone has to come very close to the root system, like just touching. Once the roots enter the water you can back off with the water a little, but always maintain water around the roots. Air is imperative though to prevent root rot. Never forget that. Good luck

I was wondering what the max reservoir size is for one plant before it's overkill

How big of an area do you have? What are you wanting to do run 1 plant at a time? There are a lot of variables for a simple answer skill and knowledge come into it also.

1 plant in a 5g bucket will be 3-4g each. a single plant and bucket system, the bucket is the res. top off daily, res change when you've replaced the original volume (so 3g in res, three days watering with a gal each day means res change every three days).

Unlimited space. I'm just wondering what the max size is before being pointless and not having any benefit

Depends how much work you want to do....... you will still have to change the res out.
You can use a bigger res and go a week to 10 days but i wouldn't go much longer.
