Can anyone tell me how/why weed might smell like hay?
LMAO... Visited a new coo-op yesterday, all their shit smelled like hay. I got something that smelled a lil bit sweeter, but it still is crap compared to what i'm used to.because you didn't grow it right......or maybe it is just bad genetics.....maybe it wasn't stored, dried, cured properly.....maybe you are smoking hay
I have heard over feeding molasses can make your buds taste rather bland and hay-like. maybe they were putting to much into growing the damn weedLMAO... Their medibles sucked donkey too!
lol because even THEY didn't know what to label the weed ass...HAYmaker Kush perhaps?? lolI remember getting some stuff that smelled like hay a long time ago, I always thought it was just immature, but I can see how it may be the curing process. Either way, the most dissapointing co-op yet, they didn't even label their bags.
I know...right!lol because even THEY didn't know what to label the weed ass...HAYmaker Kush perhaps?? lol
I'm used to really professional co-ops that have their own bags/bottles, punch cards, ect.Ya gotta dry it slow and cure it correctly and for 4-6 weeks to make it smell awesome and not like hay.
Most people don't care. Or care to do it right.
LOL. It was a Sunday, my usual place was closed and on a round about way home I saw the green cross. I never have to do more than just smell a bud to know that I'll like it, or what the quality is. I smelled at least six different buds at this place, and they were all crap but the one I bought. (it passes as decent). But I really do wonder what makes the difference, quality wise, in businesses one mile apart. Why don't you ask?
"Hey, sooo, why isn't your bud cured?"
Meanwhile: Does it feel wet? Buy some mason jars if you dont have them, rinse them out and throw your bud in there. Open it up every day or two for like 5-10 minutes.. See if the smell gets better in a week or two.

The chlorophyll thing is a myth actually. The grass/hay smell is carried by shorter-chain-length organics like coumarin and ß-cyclocitral, and can be resolved by the fermentation that marks the end stages of the curing process. Jmo. cnIts in the drying process - when i harvested my first few plants a couple of years ago naturally i was too impatient to allow all of it a full week to dry so taking a bud at a time i tried various quick dry techniques - oven, microwave, radiator etc etc - whatever way i did it it smelled like wet grass/hay. I now know this is because when you allow a proper period of time for drying in the dark, the plant consumes the remaining chlorophyll - this si in fact where the grassy/hay like smell comes from.
Your in a store, goddammit. You are allowed to complain about the product .Now that I know, the next time I smell hay, I will ask why they sell/buy uncured buds.
Cause thats just all wrong!!!
You have an ideal candidate for a water cure there. cnI have a bunch of it left over, I did not dry long enough before I put in the jars so the hay smell never went away. I smoke it in a pinch it does get you stoned but black ash and harsh taste. Going to make a bunch of oil with it and cook stuff.
I would not give it away
