Hoping someone has an ingenious idea...

Well, let me start out saying I SCREWED UP.
I do bucket hydro with 2 gal buckets, these have a 3/4" overflow screened tub fitting up top and the 'teal' colored 1/2" screened fitting down below for injection and drain with hydroton media. For me these have been working out great with a 4 week veg cycle, by the time of harvest these buckets are about 3/4 full of roots, what I would think to be about maximum.

Now to my screw up. When I changed the timer to go to 12/12 I apparently knocked the switch from "timer" to "on" and didn't realize it. I run it so that on is during the day and off at night to make it easier to work on during the day. I didn't realize this for about another 4 weeks when I was wondering how come it wasn't starting to flower. Now the buckets are at maximum root fill and the solution only trickles out when draining. I've tried running some small bottle brushes in thru the bottom drain to try and clear the screen but it aint working. I suppose I could try and pull the root ball out and transfer them to 5 gal buckets but am hoping someone might have another idea.

i'm nobody, but this reads like you might be able to prune roots.

Take a loss on your time, cut back the roots and canopy. Once it recovers, switch it to 1212

When doing soil yes, it's pretty easy to trim\breakup root bound pots when re-potting to a larger pot size. With bucket hydro rigs you have a fill and overflow bulkhead type screened fitting that projects into the bucket a few inches. They act like a lock on the root ball when it ends up surrounding it, would have to destroy the bucket to pull the plant out. It's probably what I'm going to have to do anyway.
