Homemade bubbleponics first time grow

Wow your plants looks awesome. I'm really impressed with the amount of growth you're getting from the CFLs. Do you have pics of the flowers?

I am amazed at the growth you are getting out of the cfl, i was starting off with the cfl but had HID just next to it and I could not ignore the difference, I had the cfl about an inch away and the plants just were not growing like the others and very light green while being in same media and such as others. Anyway Amazing growth keep up the good work and happy harvesing bongsmilie

Yeah i am really impressed by how those cfls are working. I think part of it is that even though they have less lumens than HIDs, they can be placed so much closer to the plant that Its actually getting the same amount of light. I could be wrong but it sounds good don't it? haha :blsmoke:

No pics of the flowers yet brother. They've started showing but I just can't get a clear pic with my cheapo camera I have. Ill try and snap some more later this afternoon and see if they come out. Im thinking of taking the tubes and pump out of the res since my roots are already deep in the water. what do you think?

Ok plants are looking good. The ones I threw into flower are really starting to smell good. I went ahead and put them on full strength flower nutes.

BTW Anyone know any good links on how to keep your setup going year round? I have access to two closets one small one big. peace :eyesmoke:

Ah man I had a problem today I looked in my res and the roots were getting browner and on my feeder tubes that were sticking out of the water there were what looked like small green fleas or somethin moving around. I ran the 8 step recovery, added two tsp of h202, and duct taped the crap out of my res to keep the light from getting in. Anyone know anything else I can do? The plants still look very healthy it was just the roots that looked nasty.

You should probably remove the pump and feeder tubes at least. They are unnecessary once the roots are in the deep water. I took mine out after only 2 weeks.

Oh yeah I done took em out now bud. I was waiting til tomorrow when I did my res change but today I just took a peek in there and saw them little green bugs and said whoa! that's not good. It looks very dark in there now and I added some h202 so Im hoping they will be okay. thats what I get for being lazy. lesson learned! :-|

Bubbleponics does require constant maintenance but at least it's very forgiving and easy to fix. That H2O2 should solve your problem.

Yeah I know it. I had heard that they need constant checking but I guess I got confident because everything had been going so smoothly but I won't be doing that anymore I'll be vigilant now watching for any return of those little bastards. peace

Ok here are some new pics of the bubbleponics plants as of today. I love the way they are growing, short and super bushy. They both look almost identical as if they were from the same strain but who knows. The one on the right is a female clone but hopefully the one on the left is a lady aswell. enjoy! :joint::mrgreen:

anyone know what nutes to use before ur about to take clones?

You talking about the rooting gel ? I use clonex, but there are tons out there.

A quart is almost $20

As for regular nutes for the mother, please take the time to read this:

http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/static/articles/1009_mothers.asp

Small clip from the above article:
The nutritional requirements of mother plants are significantly different from those of production plants raised for optimal yields. Mother plants require a balanced nutrition specifically formulated to slow down excessive vegetative growth and increase the carbon to nitrogen ratio in the shoots. If a mother plant is fertilized with too much nitrogen, it will grow quickly, but it will produce soft tissues with poor carbohydrate reserves. About 25 to 30% of a plant’s energy is used to change nitrates into an organic form of nitrogen used for vegetative growth. So an over abundance of nitrates will deplete the sugars in the shoots and leaves, reducing the amount of fuel available for new root growth.

Some more info on it. Worth a read through. It is an ad, so take it for what it is worth. They are selling you something. But they do tell you ways to get the same results without buying their product. I have heard very similar thinking from some of the masterminds at Oaksterdam U. I have not used these products, and I have had succesful clones taken from an ordinary "mother" with no special nutes. Some guys don't even use the rooting gel (I always have). Its up to you.

:peace:

Well yeah see it's because the way I'm trying to set mine up is to where I'm just taking clones from clones with one larger flower room and a smaller cloning/veg room. I was wondering if I needed to change the nutes on the mothers before I took the cuttings but I went ahead and took three clones of each yesterday and I put all my larger plants into flower. I am thinking they will be alright. Yeah I heard the clonex is good. I use Olivias cloning gel because it is the one they have at my local shop. It works good though. My goal is to have it where I am harvesting one plant and adding a new one all year around even if the rooms are not big enough to where I can harvest and add one every day but just to keep it going. Making sense? check it.

Man I had to move all my shit somewhere else. I got paranoid. Luckily they don't look like they got stressed at all we'll see tomorrow.

Yeah I'm really happy with the way the clones are coming along. Right now I'm on day two and they haven't wilted at all! They still look like they did when they were still on the mother. Hopefully they stay that way until they start rooting.
