Shit some of my boys were robbing convenience stores.. 7 down ,one slips and let's off a 12 gauge..just hit the front door. But it wasn't until then that police even cared. Aftr that it was in the news..
Yeah I go with steel and iron over plastic and wire.... Put a iron cage over a plant in the middle of time square not one person will be able to touch it, try that with a camera with your phone monitoring it see what happens.

I have a small color internet camera with a pan/tilt feature I got from Amazon. I bought the first two just to be able to keep an eye on my ex's place while our son was home and she was out working. It's a nice camera for about $100 bucks, I can hear and see in high def, and I can also speak to whomever is around through the cam's speaker. The infrared option lights up a dark room like high noon. I bought a third for my apartment to keep outside my grow room: it alerts me to any movement and it's set to automatically record for 2 minutes when it detects any. For me, it's just about the peace of mind that no one finds my grow, I don't want to walk into a trap when arriving home. If it did somehow get raided, I wouldn't be going home for a while and would have some time to get a lawyer and figure shit out. I can log on from anywhere, and the phone app works great. Love modern tech...

I have the 4 camera system and I like it. I have it set to record on a 6 month loop. My sister has a wifi camera in her place she can control with her phone but I really don't like those, she thinks her camera has been hacked into before.

looks like a good system, gwn, so much better than anything i used way back in the dark ages. ik they also have good remote motion sensors if you have limited access corridors to your property. external floods hooked into the system maybe

I live in a pretty small contained community & l/e is pretty pro-active so they know many of the players.
As for a security service, it is simply not offered here and it literally takes me less than 5 minutes to get from the house to work. I already have 4 really nice (and high) motion detector floods that work great. As for the phone, I do use it for work so I have it on me at all times (not that I really like that leash).
Legality - Ak is Med and Rec legal and we can have 24 plants total so that is not an issue as I would not exceed plant count and was planning on having like 6 cameras outside and possibly 2 inside.

When I talked about my "Big boy security system" that's him in my Avi, he passed some months back (Fuck Cancer) and we have another Boerboel but he's not even 5 months yet so if someone does get in he'll just play-em to death with those damn needle teeth.

I appreciate all the input guys - I haven't pulled the trigger on any specific system yet.

yeah man i would go with a self install system like.. simply safe... door contacts, 2 motions, some key fobs, siren and panel.. it's a monthly bill but peace of mind knowing the family is safe is worth it.. try not to sign a contract but if you can't get out of it a 2 year maximum... when you call to quote just keep saying I'm not sure I can afford that and they'll lower the rate A LOT.....

people that have and raise dogs (real dogs) can get past them easy... I know I'm gonna hear "not my dog" and "come and try" but it's true.. they're still pack animals and if your more dominant they'll submit. Now you may get challenged to a fight for it but a good tazer usually stops that fast... and won't hurt the pup (much). I'm a dog lover, pitbulls my whole life.

Ya I've never found dogs to be a reliable defense.
It's just another intimidation factor.

All the things mentioned could cause somoen to skip your house

However if someone knows you grow or what you have in the house they don't care about a cam.

None of the things mentioned would actually stop someone.

In the hood we secure doors and bar Windows. We also do oversized cameras.
It's funny watching cops hit the door with a battering ram for an hr lol

A criminal in the situation I mentioned gonna kick door run in grab shit and run out.
Ime

We all rock pits too..

Yeah steel doors fuck everyone up... If you install it and reinforce the framework with 2"×6"s your screwed trying to kick that open.. Unless you have a truck attached to your foot, good luck! I'm a firm believer in material over tech.. They don't have cameras keeping people in jails and prisons for a reason... I would smile at your camera as I leave. And these cameras all work on 120v outlets. No such thing as 100% wireless cameras. If I pulled the meter from your outdoor service (easy as pie) there goes your whole system.. Back up battery for your router, Internet and cameras? I'm guessing not.. now I just need to stroll into your house (easy cause you went with wireless cameras over steel doors and gates) grab and go... I wouldn't take plants either, I'm going for your setup. Ballasts, hoods, fans, crazy how fast someone can strip your room with a impact gun a utility knife aND a duffle bag ... 2 guy job under 4 minutes.. I'm not trying to brag or be cool. Just giving you past experience, I was an asshole in my teens. Never got caught. No police record. Poor planing gives you poor results.. my point is those cameras are a joke and real thieves no this.. you're grow is legit get a legit security system. Even a siren that goes off would stop 90% of intelligent people... iom I'm ranting

Just a Gee Whiz fact.
Boerboel literally means "Farm Dog" in dutch - they were originally brought to S. Africa by the Dutch for Guard dogs and home defense. The breed correct males are truly powerful animals.
Check how he rag-doll's the dude at around min 2:50

I looked it up because "boel" is pronounced "bull" which is a word English and German share. And Afrikaans is messed-up Dutch, which is messed-up Germ'lish. So I naturally thought "farmer bull". This is valid but not complete:

Turns out the "bull" meaning comes from Bullenbijter, a bulldog by function if not structure. The other cool bit is that boel can mean "a lot", so a Boerboel may be read as essentially "a lot of farmer dog".

So. Do you feel lucky? :joint::bigjoint:

How many % of stupid people though? You're up against the fraught statistics of idiocracy.

I like bacon.

Interesting, I didn't know "the rest of the story".
But it seems pretty accurate as this lil fella is 67 lbs @ 4.5 months.
