Hmmm.. What kind of ballast is this?

I picked this up from a ad on craigslist. I was told that it was a 1000 watt ballast, but I am unsure.

Can anyone tell me how I could get a definitive answer? The sticker on the outside lists 1000 - 400 watt.

Ahh ha. I opened the end with the power plug to do a little investigation. The plug on the right isn't hooked up on the inside. Wonder if this is some sort of frankenstein. I was confused to start with, now things are making a little more sense.

I couldn't see why there would be a total of 3 plugs .

Any input would be great.

Next time I should take a closer look before I open my big mouth.


I took the cover completely off and see that it is a 1000W ballast.

Seeing as it says sodium lamp, I take it that it is for HPS only.
