HM Digital EC Meter Problems

The EC meter i bought isnt displaying what i told it was displaying. It shows it in microsemens but only to 3 digits, with no decimal places. It is an HM Digital http://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/categories/PH-&-Nutrient-Control/PH-&-EC-Control/HM-Digital-EC-Meter/ and the store said it displayed in EC x100, so if it reads 130 it means the EC is 1.3. Well i took 5 litres of water today, dropped in 3ml of each A and B solution, and tested it. Before the nutes were added the water read out 077 (so according to the store 0.77 EC) and when i tested it afterwards, it read 340 (3.4 EC). The 3ml was the recommended amount on the bottle of Plant Magic nutes.

Who the hell uses 3.4 EC? Surely this is incorrect.

Does anyone else use this EC meter? Can you let me know what is going wrong? Thanks.

Do you have a conversion chart EC to PPM?

Sounds like it's gone haywire, is it still in warranty?

it is brand new and it has never shown anything different. there were no conversions in the instructions supplied either.

hmm i have just thought of something. maybe the instructions on the nutes means 3ml TOTAL, not 3ml of each A & B. This would explain 3.4 EC if i used twice as much when really it should be about 1.7-1.8 EC...gonna go read the bottle again =D

YEAHHHH that is the problem. It isnt amazingly clear but it does say use an equal amount of A & B solution and underneath it says use 3ml per 5 litres. So i am going to say that is it. Must stop smoking before gardening
