HLG550 vs Gavita? Anyone with experience with either/both?

I run 4x2 tents, 5x5 tents in a residence as well as large grow rooms in a warehouse with NO AC, and NO dehueys based on lots of fresh air exchange and lots of air circulation.

I do use HRVs for part of the incoming fresh air exchange. helps to keep the air warm in the winter and lowers humidity.
I hear ya bud.

I have tested the following;

1. Running my set-up with inlet and outlet ventilation system
2. Running with inlet and outlet ventilation system + Dehuey
3. Running Dehuey without inlet and outlet ventilation system

And without a doubt,
Option 1 was by far the best in terms of control, ease of use and efficiency.
Option 2 is good but I can get the same results with option one with a lot less fiddling and electrical usage.
Option 3 is poor, and not something I would recommend.

You can control humidity (moisture in the air) by ventilation alone. Therefore operating a grow room with proper/adjustable ventilation is/or should be standard practice, no matter what lights you are using!

This means HLG's definitely have the advantage over HPS because, whereas you need to run aircon + ventilation in a room full of HID's especially on hot days, you would not encounter such a problem in a room full of LED's, that has a ventilation system, with a good air exchange capacity. This is but one of the advantages a decent LED system has over an HID system.

I can say this. The Elite is like 700 cranked up right? Thats to much for my 4'x4'. I now have it dimmed covering one plant in a 4'x4' & about 30"-34" high. View attachment 4115901
Personally, I haven't quite gotten past the whole different plants needs under white led. Big life changes just occurred though & ill be able to focus

It ain't that bad dude. Right now I have a SourD under the Amare Bar8 & one also under the Thouie.
In my flower room, I have more problems under the LEDs then I do under the HPS or MH. Seriously, I can't even remember when my plants didn't like HPS or MH. But 1 out of 3 struggle under led in flower for ME.
I keep trying cuz I see others here w/ happy led flower plants. My main problem is some sort've what i think is a lock out related to plants that appear to more sensitive under the LEDs. Maybe one nute ingredient thing is not photosynthesizing properly in conjunction w/ the fuller spectrum or maybe it's the lack of IR. I dunno n it's driving me nuts. This is the whole reason why I have HPS even hanging in my room. Been doing comparisons for the past 3 runs. And each time I lose a plant early flower on the led side. Maybe not that much plant chopping but it certainly feels like it when you got 3 months into vegging a perfectly healthy monster n it just shuts the bed on me once it gets under high powered LEDs.
As far as An HLG 600w QB or Elite, it does cover said area & has matched my 1000 in yeilds. The Thouie covers more area in an overlapping scenario (especially the Raptor n Solis-Tech hoods I'm using) but the concentration of the Elites light density (has lenses) makes for a brighter 4'x4' then the Thouie I'm using, if you get what I'm saying.
If I had more ceiling height or grew smaller plants then I would've used a one of my XtraSun medium sized hoods & would've came allot closer to matching the density in that space.
I think the HLG 600 would fit my room better. I'd simply bend & fasten a 90• shroud/reflector to go right around the whole fixture. Seen another guy do it vert. Maybe @tstick?
I'd get the QB over the DE & add some enhancement to it.
how do you have the environmet set up in each room? the fact that you said your led plants are less healthy than your hps thats grower error not the light(not trying to be a dick) if the led are lees healthy at any point the side by side needs to start over a legit side by side would have equally healthy plants and you really need to count all the tops/bud sites and make sure they are even on both sides. i dont expect anyone to go to the much effort i certainly wont haha.

IDK MAN. maybe it's the easy Epsom cure everyone talks about. I'll try. My new Veg+Bloom nutes seam to plasticize the plants or some shit. Still don't have anything nailed down to say cuz I'm bouncing around nutes right now. Just that the same plants, getting the same nutes In the same room. If their gonna have issues it's always the LEDs side.
Like I said. Prob just Mag. But Damn. Tried 3 different lines in the past year & they all seam to lack what an led plant (of some strains) require. Hassle.
I'll figure it out soon now. I see More time to focus in the future.
The 3k 90 CRI as well as others are pretty damn full. Maybe it's the IR. THE IririrIriIRnUvanIRNUVA,&MelllloooYelllow.
try jacks my plants are always super healthy with jacks unless im lazy an screw up watering or forget to ph

LED + too close to canopy = Mag Whores for plants/burnt and bleached

HPS A/C hood+ get as close as you want= Natural plants easier to maintain

People don't wanna listen, well maybe some day someone who matters more will come along and say the same shit. This was the basis of conversation behind Smo starting his company bro, why I went with his lights we have the same vision of less is more then we found you use less watts per sq foot and get further from the canopy and the plants are not mag whores and feed less over all.

Anyways another area people slip on is your environment. Getting your environment dialed in will make more of a difference than which of the two lights you use.........

We need to do some catching up I wanna pick your brain about a few things.

:peace:
i got 6" away from my quantum board 4 weeks into flower no defeciencies or bleaching using the 304 boards at 75w each and thats just standard jacks 321 feed from clone to finish

I have seen all the reports both the PPF numbers and the PPFD numbers on a grid.
Again SEE the cree horticultural reference and the HLG report. By the numbers the 550 does match a HPS SE,

BUT and a BIG BUT I do not see that in my grows with my own Samsung strips vs HPS SE 4x4 side by sides.
Could this be down to efficiency, as in watt for watt you will get more light out of QB vs Samsung Strips?

Just read your next post "winter grow" seems heat will also be a factor.

Those curled down serrated edges is not what i'd call perfectly healthy lol, neither is all the clawing going on. Leaves look super dark too.

That's what I would call textbook nitrogen toxicity, all it's missing is some burned tips

But im the noob here so I guess that's all normal :bigjoint:
yeah i would not flower that plant looks super unhealthy

Not the same thing and you can not see the WHOLE plant or situation so um....ya, you have no clue what you are talking about.
Keep trying to figure shit out while I prep for a beautiful harvest :hump:
And if any of you Sherlock's spot any leaf issue, I would hope so 11 days deep on just water in hydro

is that supposed to be impressive? i hope you have at least a month left on that guy id be real sad if my plants looked like that at finish

Obviously neither of you have ever grown a plant where the tops are above the light source
50+ harvests of this exact cut and you think you two amateur's are gonna put a hitch n my giddy up??

Carry on......

i cant count how many growers have 5 more year experience than me but still grow half the quality your 50 harvest dont impress me

You are bringing something into this HLG vs HPS that has nothing to do with the topic.
Your welcome to take a stroll through the Vertical section where growers are crushing fantasy land led g/w with lamps on a regular basis.
Don't want to be a bitch like you peeps and drag others into this but you gonna tell brother @pinner420 his plant health is shit? I think NOT!!

ive never seen someone brag so much about such sad plants

Try Bumping up Potassium, Calcium.and Magnesium

In Bloom try testing K-Cal-Mg ratio around 3:1.5:1.5 and 4:2:2 and see how you get on.

When I get home I'll post a tonne of healthy vert grows that don't that.

Can't wait for more bullshit replies
Your own vert grows?

Do you even have a clue what is in your nutrient feed? I do, less than 100ppm N on 6ft plants is not producing anything even remotely N toxic.
Keep reaching for straws and trying to share other peoples grows bro.
I'll show you what a nice hill of beautifully grown Vert Bud looks like here in a few weeks after harvest and a proper dry.
i have a hunch your one of them cat's that likes to weight their bud wet and again when only 75% dry :P

Thank you for just saying "Jacks" and not "Jack's 3-2-1". That has become a very fanboyinsh thing to drop all over then internet and annoying as fuck.
There is no product named "Jacks 3-2-1" :fire:

@vertnugs added to the discussion with technicality. My pant is heavy Sativa which gives logic to her showing more of the curl with the light positing.
Learn to follow along buddy.
I don't know your grows, but if you wanna be a lame bitch I can take a peak later with a cup of coffee in hand and I'm sure we could go tit for tat all night long at issues with your plants and operation.
Stop beating a dead horse bro.

This may be true for some, but not so true for all. Im pleasantly surprised how warm Led run. I was actually shocked. It must be how hard people run their LED's.
