Looking at a new light either the chilled 4 bar 600 watt or hlg 600 v2 rspec. I have the chilled tech 6 bar 600 watt already. Wondering what ppl think of the two

Might as well get the HLG Scorpion if you are looking at the HLG 600.

With ~$1100 you could cover twice the square footage if you went DIY though.

4-6 HLG QB 96’s paired with 2 HLG-320h-54A drivers would be great for a 4x4 and would only cost $500-650.

There is a RIU discount code for 10% off so the scorpion is $999 and the best ready to hang light at that price imo.

bar lights have their uses but i'd take a scorpion in a tent any day

Just looking at the Scorpion vs the 650R or 600 as I’m looking for two units about this wattage to replace two 1000w HPS.

Im new to learning about LEDs and one thing that’s really confused me here is how on earth can the Scorpion have an advised hanging height of only 12” vs 30” + for the other 600w ish options? They seem to use the same setup of diodes right?

If you decide on ChilLed, here's a link for 5% off.

Someone already mentioned the HLG "RIU10" code.

They use the same diodes, but those diodes are driven softer on the Scorpion. Six boards running at 100 watts each versus four boards running at 150 watts each. Those six boards are more spread out as well (see fixture dimensions). Therefore, the six board setup can (and is designed to) be run much closer to the canopy.

If you don’t want to go the DIY route check out Timber’s Cypress 8. $1k for 725w, more even spread and 6-12” hanging height.
