Who is using this light. Used it on my last grow. It was horrible. Used 315 CMH on previous grows with zero issues. Used the same nutrient schedule as before and the plants did horrible. Every time I adjusted the light the plants would get worse. I thought I had it under control when I flipped to 12/12 but a couple weeks in things started to get worse. I barely salvaged it and the plants were virtually dead when I harvested them. Luckily it was still decent and in cure now. If you have had a successful harvest with this how did you do it. I have a wattage meter to control it. Ended up not being able to stay above 400 watts. Grow is a 4x5

I did have a successful grow with their 320 RSpec in a 2 x 4. What kinds of things went wrong?

Buds never filled out, very airy. Should have gotten 70% more harvest. Any time I would turn the light up within a day the leaves would start looking like major deficiencies. Yellow, brown spots, curling, drying up etc. I had the issues in veg and they stayed in veg a month longer than normal just because of the issues. I thought I had it figured out and went 12/12. I did flushes for nutrient lock to rule that out. Did 100% water changes weekly with R/O water. Always added full dose of cal mag and half to max of 3/4 dose of other nutrients based on where it was in stage. Flower was kept 600-800 ppm. Never had an issue in that range, This can be so frustrating sometimes. No pics to share.

I have done two harvest with the RSpec. The first harvest worked very well. The second - yeah, not so much. The sacrificial crop ...

For the first grow I had the driver dimmed down to about 1/2 power and I kept the lights at 18" above for the duration. Beefy bud with good bud stink when the jars are opened. The second grow I put the power up to full and raised them to 22". Like you, the results of the second grow were less than stellar. Smaller ... little airy ... less bud stink. Still a good smoke when I roll 'em up.

What was the distance between the canopy and light while in 12/12?

You probably weren't feeding them enough. The high powered LED makes them use a lot of nutrients. @Doug Dawson had to almost double his nutes when he switched from HID to the HLG 600 I think.

Hey bud, I will post some info in a bit, just eating dinner. I had my grow kicked up to full power pulling 630 watts with no issues really other than those I created. Give me a few minutes and I will get back to you.

By the end 36" 400 watts. Still had to cut a week earlier than I wanted but smells good, and great buzz. Gonna roll it back in soil. Future #1 (37% THC) and Blackberry Moonrocks (34% THC). If I start seeing similar just gonna throw it back to CMH.

Hey man, so what did you grow those plants in? It say's your gonna roll it back in soil? Were you in coco? What was the nutrient line you used? What were your temps and RH? What PH did you use?

Don't jump off the LED band wagon too quickly. These are great lights when everything is dialed in. Pass along those details and we shall try to get you through this.

I mean I’ve had stellar luck with the light again I had to double the nutrients plus co2 temps in check and only ran it 50%. Rock hard buds and tested high.

Hmm ... I did not think to increase the feed on the grow with the full power.

I am in the experimental stage for the next ... oh - let's say several months ... and can play around with the higher doses of nutes and higher light intensity. I'll give that a whirl and see how the plants like it.

Thanks D.D. and P.W.

The best way I found is to buy a kilowatt meter from Lowes. 50% at. 30" for veg and. 24" full power for flower. Adjust the light up slowly the 2nd week of 1212 until you reach full power over 5 days or so. When I went from HPS to the HLG my plants seemed to be starving. After some advice and ratios to use from Renfro I ended up doubling my feed. Sits around 1100ppm. I don't know why but with the light it just becomes a glutton. Plants look healthy. The biggest issue I ran into was my canopy got too thick. I trimmed them half to death and chopped of all the lower stuff. That was Nov 28. Dec 2nd I flipped to 12/12 and they responded well. The fist 3 pics are the plant pre and post trim and than the canopy 4 days later at flip. The last pic is new. The one issue I had was the back 2 plants grew too tall and I had no canopy to supercrop them so I left them to see what happened and they foxtailed a bit. That seems to be under control now. I dropped them down 5" and lowered power to 550. You really don't want anything closer than 20" to 24". Thankfully the foxtailing seems to have stopped with the changes.

And the canopy is thick AF!

With respect to light intensity, I have read that a DLI of 42 moles/m2/d is about the max one needs if one is not using any supplemental Co2. Is a DLI of 42 too high? Too low? Just right?
LOL, it is pretty thick. I really did not do any measurements to figure out Daily light integral numbers. I just went with the info I got from Steven at HLG and Renfro with feeding and played with it as I went.
How far from the canopy were you running the 650? They need to be like >28 inches away if I remember correctly.
Hey @Renfro , he says he had it " 36" 400 watts". I am thinking it is not a light issue but some other factor. I had mine at 630 watts/24 inches for quite some time with no adverse affects? Am I off base here? I asked him for his details such as what nutes he is using, amounts, PH, temp, RH but he is not providing those details nor pics so it's hard to guess. At 36"/400 watts do you think it could still be a light issue?
