Hiding light showing outside from hood exhaust vent ??

I have an 8 inch vent that runs from one outside wall to the other, through two vented hoods and an in-line fan which moves the air. When I am outside, I can see a glow from the intake grill that comes from the lights in that run. This surprises me as the vent line takes a couple of turns, but it is showing out. Since I'm trying to keep my grow on the down-low from neighbors, how could I stop this light from shining out? Anybody had this problem and, if so, what have you done?

That would work. I did that on the other side as that is more of a storage area. I was also thinking of putting some netting, like women's black panty hose, in the exhaust run so that may stop some of the light from leaking out, yet be permeable to let the air flow.

I had the same problem from my two 400w hps setups, the light was going through the fan and then 20' around 2 bends to shine out the opposite end of my flex duct where it was leaving the house heres what I did that stopped the light from coming out: Get a couple house furnace air filters and cut them to fit your size flex duct. I did this to stop light showing and it worked great. I placed a filter cut to the size of my round flex duct at the beginning of the duct/inline fan then I placed one on the first turn of my system and last I cut and placed one where my exhaust exited the wall, adding these 3 pieces of air filter to my exhaust system held up the light enough that when looking from the outside no more light could be seen.

Great idea. I will try it.

I would do what Nate said, plus wrap the duct with black plastic or sutton to block any light leaking through the duct. One thing I will say, when checking for light leaks outside your grow, make sure it's at night and let your eyes adjust to the darkness. Spend 5-10 minutes in the dark so your eyes will be able to pick up subtle traces of light leakage. GL

I did this today. I just cut a piece of furnace filter and stuck it into the air intake vent behind the vent cover. Tonight I can't see any light coming through and I doubt it will have much of an impact on air flow. Thanks!

I built a box and lined it with egg crate inside and sprayed the inside flat black works as a duct muffler as well
