really? anyone else have an opinion on this? im designing a grow op and im debating doing cfl for the veg room to save on electricity.
CFL does NOT beat out MH for veg. T5HO, on the other hand, can stomp an equal wattage MH up to 250 watts. Once you hit the 400w + range, the MH pulls ahead of the T5HO.

From the Title of your Thread I was just going to jump on in and bash you. But after looking at the pics and Reading I must say It looks like a good Grow for CFLs. Not quite as good as if you had used HID but none the less Good. Just kidding, Good job.

it would probably have been more efficient to run one or two HID's.. but dank lookin tree dude. hope mine looks that good with the one HID.

;-)i will say.. you managed an above average harvest using cfl's. top shelf genetics like white widow helps with the final product also. cfl's are great if you have a small grow that you need to keep hidden. but that kind of grow is more of a hobby for a pot head who loves weed, or a future ganja farmer who still lives with their parents. if you are a medicinal marijuana user, and you want to grow all of your own meds, cfl's will never be productive enough. the only thing i use them for is seedlings. i think i'll stick with my hps for flowering... it makes my buds really fat.

Quite honestly i would kill for a couple of HID's. I made all the fixtures for like 30 bucks, which was cheeper at the time. Then i started adding more and more light bulbs and realize it probably would have been cheaper to go with HID anyway.
My last grow was awful so I'm just really happy i got anything

Newschool, I think those are some beautiful ass buds!!! Very inspiring. I myself would love to step up to the big lights but I have proof that cfls can grow some kick ass plants and it's my first grow! They are 18 days into flower. Congrats on the killer buds, dude! Sorry!!! Hope I'm not highjacking, just tryin to defend the point.:bigjoint:

check out dr bud greengenes at IC mag forum, cfl is the king when grown SOG 16 per square ft. in cut down 20 oz plastic bottles, fed with poop teas etc. check out his grow with pictures every other day, thru flowering,I have both HID and 1500 watts of t5 ho as well as cfl, I wish I had not bought the HID. The future is flourecent , growing large plants does not compete with using large clones almost directly to flowering cycle. He has to do a lot of clones, you can't be lazy and do it his way.
His methods break rules but you can't argue with his figures, I like big nugs like everybody else, but that is not the most efficient way to grow.
The jury is out HIDs are satan, why spend your money or go to a grow shop if you don't have to? I guess if you are lazy the HID and pre-made nutes are the way to go:bigjoint:http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=88449&page=1&pp=15
