Hi guys, Just starting out and I've sent for the seeds, I know I'm not getting feminised seeds,so when things start to happen and hopefully everything is growing, If I identify a male plant? I destroy it right? as the idea is to only have females? I already have a few clones on the go and their doing ok, I've never grown from seed though. so all males are thrown away as soon as they are spotted? thanks Mo

yeah the only reason you would want males is to study them or to pollenate female plants. If i could make a suggestion......the growfaq on this website is really good if you wanted to poke around in there. A lot of helpful information

you could always make some hash with them...atleast that would be something to hold you over til you harvest

i dont think it would be worth it from a male with only preflowers to make hash....you might get a hit or 2 because theres not much THC. now a fully mature flowered out male would be a different story........thats just my opinion if someone has any experience making hash out of premature males and had good results let me know because it would make my life a little better haha

Thanks guys, thats what I call a fast reply, I've studied pictures of male and females,so I'm confident I'll spot the males and remove them as soon as I'm sure they are, I've got a heap of beginners questions, I'll go and have a look at the FAQ area, i think I'm going to need a lot of help, lol, thanks, Mo.

what i try to do is cut the clones from the males until winter is over and then take him outside or just move outside if the temps, allow. i like to keep my pollen for later bro. you can mix strains and breed your own later down the road

Hi, Yeh, very interesting stuff on there, I don't know if I can keep all this in my head though? hah! so much to take in, I'm now worried about overwatering as I'm growing in soil, John Innes No 1, transplanted into larger pots and I've got the pots stood in shallow trays with a bit of water for humidity around the leaves, the HPS lamps are 400 watts each [two] and about 2ft above the plants, there's a bit of leaf curl and I'm not sure if its the soil? or the lamps? so I've got a fan going enough to have the leaves moving around, these clones were given to me by a guy who took them off his hydroponic plant, so maybe the cuttings are getting used to soil growing? can't wait for the seeds to come, I hope I get a lot of females, I've been reading about pinching out the top growths to get the plants to bush out too, I remember my mom doing this with garden plants, I'll let these 8 inch cuttings grow a bit yet though? do you think? Thanks guys , Mo.

im not sure what your last question is.....are you asking if you should pinch them to make them bush out? thats up to you.....it depends on your space restrictions and what you want to do....theres many techniques..FIM,LST,supercropping. as for the curling leaves, could be heat, that would be my first guess....the light doesn't have to be too close for it to be too hot and the leaves curl up.....i doubt it is because the cuttings are now in soil.....that would just be slow growth if any as the roots adjusted

Had a check on things today and all seems ok, I've got a fair bit of room but I was just wondering if it increased yield,[pinching out the centres] yep! all seems ok at the moment and the leaves seem to be opening out a little,at least no worse anyway, sorted a fan out that blows accross the plants, its a pulsating tower type fan that sends out random gusts of air, Like being outside!! room temp is 75 deg, just waiting on the new seeds to arrive one day this week, I'm not sure on which strip light bulb to use though, some people say use a normal white tube, others say growlux! I've got both, maybe I should set both up? I must say this is a great site, fantastic guys well done. M.
