I have what is probably very simple question for any of you veteran greenthumbs.

If I generate CO2, and keep good air movement and temp, is there any real need to vent the room?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Cough

i am not the veteran your looking for, but your talking about a sealed room, and yes its possible, youll want a carbon filter to clean the air

Make sure you stay on top of how humid it gets. Are you talking about no fresh air getting to them at all? Are you worried about smell?

No, it's not really odor I'm concerned about, but it's a fruit cellar, all poured cement, and venting will be a major major pain. There will be plenty of air movement, and humidity should not pose a problem, a smallish door will open daily, into the basement...

I would worry about CO (carbon monoxide). If there is not enough O2 the CO2 generator will not properly combust and you'll get poisonous CO instead of CO2 (carbon dioxide). It's the exact same thing that happens if your furnace is improperly vented.

I'm quite certain that will not work and this is why. An ozone generator generates ozone (O3) from O2. In other words, it takes three O2 molecules and spits out two O3 molecules. It is not capable of breaking the carbon-oxygen bond (CO2) the way a plant can.

That being said, if you already have sufficient foliage, your plants will be converting the CO2 back into O2. Install a CO detector to be safe and give it a go.

CO can make you really sick really fast, so be careful.

If you generate your own CO2 and keep good air movement, isnt that considered venting the room??

You want an Aranizer and a CO2 Blackbox for no ventilation. Both can be found on ebay... hold out for used Aranizer units.

Plants breath in CO2 and breath out O2, so combustion should not be an issue especially if you are checking on your babies at least once daily - enough 'NEW' air will pour in at that point.

Think of air and it's charge potential like a rechargeable battery. You can only Aranize the same air for so long before you want to bring in new air. This is probably a little bit over your head, sorry.

As for a carbon filter; The best in-room filter/carbon filter is an AireOx filter.

Oh and hey, while your browsing ebay for the above minus the AireOx, be sure to check out 'John Ellis Water' - this is probably the most influential aspect to the health of your babies (and yourself!). Very much worth what I paid for one of those...

I was actually thinking along the lines of some sort of bio organism co2 gen... seems as though I read some stuff about that recently

If there is anyway to get some fresh air in there you should do it. Your life will be much easier, but if there is no way you will have to stay on top of your O2 and CO2 levels. I'm sure it can be done but make sure to do your homework and get good equipment and a really good grow book that address that issue.

homie look it up, its called a sealed room.
no venting what so ever.
if i find the article ill post it here

Ok peeps, thx for all the help. Actually, what I've been doing here is what I consider "looking it up"
I'll google it up.
I am amazed at your responses, this place, and you all rock
