Sorry to hear that. Stay positive and rational my friend. I watched my grandmother slowly die in front of me. It's quite a toll I know. Hang in there.

i know it sucks and it's super hard to deal with d, but you have to remember that death is simply a part of living, something that happens to each and everyone at some point in time.. hopefully later than sooner, but at the same time not something that any of us has any sort of control over for the most part, when it's our time to go, it's our time to go...

i feel bad, i really do, as i'm sure it suck's sitting back and watching the person you care about wither into nothingness and be in constant pain and know that there's really only one end result.. :(

just keep your head up d, remember the good times that you had with your dad, memories are all we have once they are gone m8..

I recently went through something similar with my dad so I can sympathize with you.
I know how hard it is seeing someone deteriorate right in front of you and not be able to do anything about it more than try to make them comfortable.
It's important to try to stay upbeat around him and not let him see just how you're being affected by his illness. Less for him to worry or feel bad about.

I'm really sorry. I'm going through a similar circumstance with my mom. You need to get him on fentanyl. My mom has the patches and it really helps with the horrible pain. I'm so sorry. It's so rough on the caregiver. I have a lot of respect for you DSB65. If you ever need to talk just let me know.

At least he's lucky enough to have you there to be with him. I'm not so sure about this, but if I think about it, if my dad was struggling with life as I took care of him, I'd make sure to talk to him, and to tell him things that would make his mind pleased. Such as how much I love him, how important he has always been, and how he makes me want to be a better person, which I strive to do every day. You know, just things to ease the mind, because there is only so much you can do about the body. It's even worse if the drugs to ease the pain keep him "out of it" to where he cant really hear or understand. Just thinking about this... what you are going through, is a real tear jerker, I am sorry for what you are going through. Thankfully you are there for him. Stay strong brother.

Went thru something similar with my dad a few years ago. He was in his 90's and was in good mental and physical health until the last few years. Last year he was halfway in a fantasy world, which IMO served him well. It was good that I could return the favor of caring for him, like he had done for me as a father.

He was ready to go and wanted to, so in the end his passing was a relief to him, and in some ways to me as well. Just be happy you can be with him and help him exit this world with some dignity and in as much comfort as possible

That blows man. I couldn't imagine having to do that. Maybe you could try THIS for him. Just start with 1/8 to 1/4 oz and work up. Best of luck to you both.

You are in my prayers. Even when you think you are ready for him to go when it happens you won't be ready for it. You just can't be prepared for it because your heart is involved.

The pain I felt when I lost my father came over me in waves. And it might be that way for you, too. Waves of deep emotion will wash over you. Slowly the crest of those waves will become smaller and smaller and less frequent and some day you'll be able to think of your beloved father without breaking down. He is blessed to have you to help him through.

Lots of folks here either can't or won't spell OxyContin. But DSB has impressed me as real. In any case, you might want to cut him some slack. He's baring his heart about real people grief, not posting seminude pics of a baked girlfriend. cn

I hadn't even posted in the thread because I had realized theirs nothing I could say and that posting on this topic in an open thread was meaningless- but I'm not going to ignore someone disrespecting you or anyone in such a situation.

DSB, you have my best wishes and condolences- for whatever that's worth
