I was guessing at the numbers but I knew I wouldn't be too far off.
But bears aside, if these guys grew to 200 lbs there wouldn't be many of us left.

I've had them come right up to my feet while river fishing trying to bluff me off of a Salmon.
They are fearless!
Ermine? I used to have ferrets and they were great pets if you could handle the smell lol

I was allergic to them so I didn't keep them for very long.

Looks like a weasel. Saw a brown one in August, and he acted like I wasn't even there. scampered within 6 feet of me. Minks are super cool, too, but more shy.

Yes, Ermine and they are in the weasel family so they have the "Stank".
I've skinned my fair share of them & it's meticulous work for next to no reward. The hides used to be worth doing it, but anymore the bottom fell out of that market.

Honestly, I'm glad to hear that their fur is no longer worth money. Aren't they endangered?

We don't get a pile of attacks here, just very odd one and they tend to be in the summer months and like I said earlier they tend to be a surprised sow and cubs (black bears), had one in the back yard last summer with a cub but they have never bothered anyone and if they did they would be on the barbi, love me some bear ribs if done right lol.
This how we deal with bears

I have an ermine living in the woodpile out back and yes they are fearless, they will actually walk right up to you, very cute, very small and viscous lol. Speaking of tent attacks, we had a couple killed in Algonquin Park a few years back, dragged out of the tent. Parks employees killed the bear a few days later. I can honestly say I've seen only two bears in Ontario when not hunting them (don't do that now) and both were running away at at high rate of speed lol. The two times I've been to Alaska I've seen lots of brown bears and only one got a tad close, had to pop off a few rounds in the gravel in front of him/her to turn it around :(. Then I had to change pants lol.

I've been charged by brownies twice while hunting - one was about 50 yds from me in the timber & I was going to shoot it (thought it was a cinnamon blackie in the brush) but quickly noticed it had a head at each end so I backed up forthwith. . . but not quick enough.
Momma came at me hard from another angle, came to a screeching halt close enough to spray moss & gravel on my boots. She was making a God awful noise, popping her jaws & blowing snot & spit all over me as I stood there with a (single shot) Thompson Contender in .35 rem.

Fortunately she decided her 2 y/o cubs were more pressing & left me alone to shake in my boots.

We're working on an additional 100k in term.
I really don't like anything other than whole life but at this point in the journey one can't quibble semantics.
My 25K bought 48K in coverage. {I'll be 57 next month} For the wife it took 23K and change to buy 45K of coverage. {she is a few years older} The way this works, which ever of us who out lives the other, can cash out the value of their own policy if need be.

We decided to carry our 50K {each} of term one more year. But we will be dropping it next year for sure.

My only close encounter with a bear involved growing weed. I had a few small patches in timber land. One of the patches was named New England, as it was the 13 original plants to be set out that year. I had hiked in a mile or so, and was checking the plants in New England. I was down on one knee and had my old pump .22 propped up against a tree. All of a sudden it sounded like the sheriff and about a dozen of his deputies were charging me through the brush. I took off running, leaving my rifle behind and pulling a muscle in my leg before I had gone 25 yards. Then I heard the charging again, but this time I got a whiff of the bear. I was like, "thank God, it's a bear." It was a young sow we had seen the winter before eating our corn. She had a cub and I had sneaked up on them. The noise was from her slapping palmetto fronds. I sang a few bars of the Cucumber Blues as I limped back to get my gun.

I'm 52. I just retired from working 32 years for the same company. My health insurance was free for the wife, kids, and myself. I'm going to lose it at first of the year. My cobra is going to 1900.00 a month. What are some of you doing about health care? Anything out there cheaper? The good news I get pick up my original plan for 400.00 a month for my family when I turn 55.

Free health insurance is a hell of a benefit isn't it? Why the 3 year wait on the orginal plan, if I can ask? The only contact I have is for a Medicare person, more like an advisor really, Joann Quinn from https://www.remedigap.com. She was unbelievably helpful in steering me thru the Medicare/Gap/Advantage land mines. This was all at no charge from her to me. That said, I don't know if she handles other than Medicare. They are licensed in many states. Prior to all of this I was with MedMutual. Online brokers can be a PITA. I'd start with local agents in your town and get an idea of pricing, coverage. etc. Some states have ombudsman programs to help consumers. Good Luck!

It was a cost cutting measure on the company part. Used to be 30 and out with insurance at any age. Now 30 and out but you have to wait till 55 for insurance. I would stay till 55 but the old hips are giving me fits
