Well I can post a good piece of advice that I have not seen discussed much and that is - mulch ... I scatter a few bales of alfalfa hay down where I want to plant next year and by Spring the ground underneath is wonderful, rich and full of earthworms. It's called the Ruth Stout No-Till System after the eccentric organic gardener who championed it. Since I've started using it, everything is going much, much better and I am not battling weeds or tilling or much digging. I haven't seen it discussed in the context of cannabis, but it is ideal for that.
My only advice is to give the roots more soil than you think. Unless you already did that. If that's the case lets see some pics. Odds are they're beauts. It ain't hard outdoors.

absolutely not true. my tomato plants would be toast of that were true.
