Hermies or Males? The true holiday nightmare!!

Wow you know the new year comes and you want to keep up all your resolutions when you think things are going good. :spew:
Something just had to fuck it up... after all my hard work starting my new Vertical grow *go look its cool*

Boom nut sacks... and although I love myself some nuts, I would prefer the only set in my grow room to be my husband's!

Since I have never dealt with this can anyone tell me if these are for sure hermies or if they are males. I got these from a friend of mine after he killed my original strains that I had kept for 5 years, while I was on vacation. He tried to calm me down by replacing them... but I ended up with fucking crapsicles! fuck mother fucking... yeah I think I need a drink, a bowl and maybe a noose. WHAT A BAD DAY FOR GREENIE!

They were so pretty... so so pretty... mama is sad :(

Does anyone know a good seed vendor?

DAMMIT it will take another month to get my grow going... how how HOW could this happen to me ... :wall:

Are vendors even safe or reliable? I have never bought anything, I haven't had to start new ever... thats a very long time... I feel new again!

oh man, you werent lieing, your friend, (should be ex friend) killed some real beauties. my appologies, i feel your pain. my ex microwaved my gorgeous bushes. needless to say she isnt around any more... can you blame me? any how the site i use to buy my seeds is sensibleseeds.com. you will need to take acouple percautionary steps if you are as paranoid as i. get a lessale bank gift card registered in a friends name (or any bank gift card that allows overseas purchaces) then go on the site using that same persons e-mail info as well as thier shipping info. the package will arive at the designated adress in an undisclosed/unmarked envelope 2-3 weeks later. toss the friend a few nugs for thier trouble. better yet guilt the bastard that put you in this possition to do it for you free of charge. the site is secure and thier product is high quallity. my last order of 50 fem seeds had a 100% germination rate and are all healthy 3 weeks into the grow cycle. iv done alot of shopping around and thier prices are some of the best around and also have a huge variety to choose from. this vendor is super reliable. iv been using them for almost 2 years. they messed up my first order, but promptly got me my seeds they shorted me, no questions aked. i still dont fully understand the risk involved, but if you take those simple percautions above, atleast your bases will be covered. since it sounds like a one time purchace, i wouldent sweat it... -best of luck-

Thank you guys for the help. I have never dealt with this since I kept my strains for so many years and took care of them well.

So if they are hermies can I castrate them (cut off the balls) and keep them in the same room as the rest of them without any harm, there are 2 other strains that seem fine. And these honestly were budding so nice. I talked to my friend and he said that one of the ones he had hermied but he thought it was because of the lack of care. I really want to know what to do because I just have them in other room without proper light. Are they allowed to be near my moms? Is it even worth keeping them? Wow I haven't had the panic of not knowing what to do in years and it's really very interesting actually.

Thanks for the pics frosty very helpful

Kayas I feel your pain, you just can't let a lovely lady go.

Jay LOL I cant be too mad at my friends, they tried to learn but some people are just not cut out for the time and attention it takes
although let me tell you, I will be mourning the strains I lost forever. Especially the Blue Sateliete, a mix of blueberry and c99.

Thank you Goatamine if you wish to keep up with my progress please check out my vertical grow

They were beautiful weren't they Weed

you can cut the balls off..i did this recently on a LR2 that was nearly finished and went hermie...just seperated it from the other plants so it didnt pollinate them..then grew it out, we actually just(5mins ago) smoked a joint from the bud i got off it,to see how it smoked..It aint great, but i'll keep it for when i'm outta bud or between grows..i guess shit bud is better than none.

But yeah, dont let em near you ladies...
have they suffered any stress recently? repotting etc?? could be the hermie cause..also some strains seem to have hermie tendencies.

your more forgiving than i!! unfortunatly those hermies wont be close to those megga chronic strans you once had. if your the connoisseur i think you are, id start looking for another alternitive. truly, very sorry and my heart goes out to you. i wish u better luck next time

Thanks everyone for all your help, there has been a few long nights trying to make sure all the nuts get picked off but there are a number of contradicting pieces of information.

From what I have always known and as many would suggest that Hermies will not give off good seed and by my own experience good bud. Now other people are saying online this is not true and that you can get good seeds if seeded or you can get good bud if pinched on time. They also suggest that there is a difference between nanners that show up at the end of flowering vs male sacks that show up early in flowering… I am right in the middle. But I do not really see clusters of balls just random ones here and there on my bigger plants. There are some smaller ones tho that are obviously having issues.

Here is what is furthering my dilemma. Sour Diesel is known to be an easily hermied plant, it just happens often enough that there is mention of it on many sites. The original mother plant I have was from seed and shows no problems in veg other than taking a longer time than the others to absorb water. The clones from this plant in flower are half having problems and the others are not so much.
My friend who grew from this mom before me said that he had one short weird hermied plant that when pinched eventually flowered fine and smoked ok.
I am pretty sure that he didn’t have the optimal conditions, and in my situation I have been inbetween building a new grow room.

Should I keep the mom and try again or is this mom just a hermie in itself.

Under normal circumstances I would just trash the whole the whole strain and start from scratch but the sour desiel that I have been growing is a luscious and hardy plant with beautiful characteristics. I can’t help to think that it is just very sensitive to any stress and that if I were to try again I could treat it right and get it to bud correctly.

But this could just be wishful thinking and I would not want to endanger the remaining 2 strains that are doing fine.

I have had a similar dilemma...hard to let go of a good gene eh? haha I have heard that hermis will produce good bud if dealt with correctly. Seek the almighty dutchmaster reverse and dutchmaster penetrator products if you wish to keep thine genetics. I have 4 in veg right now that should be genetic hermi...ill let u know how the reverse affects things if you want. :D

Thanks Gvega please keep me updated.

I do not have any experiance with Hermis at all. I keep wondering if the mom I got these from is hermi. Do hermi moms cause issues with my healthy moms? I am going to bud out the mother plant and reveg if it turns out not to have hermi parts...
Is it bad to reveg a plant after budding, do you loose anything by doing this?
I know many people do it but i have to wonder how it all really works.

theoretically hermie pollen will produce seeds only female, or hermie if pollinated on a true female, can make some nice feminised seeds try the bag method i dont have a link and am stoned but you save the pollen from your hermie place in a bag and when flowering girl is nice and hairy tie the bag around a branch (saves gettin seed everywhere confine it to a bit of bud not the whole crop) shake, et voila! when you harvest there will be nice female seeds occasianally spit out hermies just look 4 them hope ive helped

Thanks super I got some good information of it from jmac on my vertical thread.
I think I just need to deal with it and get rid of the hermie problem.

Who needs feminized seeds anyways haha

Hey I have had a hermie before and I let the plant grow with my other females. All I did was snip off as many of the male flowers I could find and it did end up pollinating some of itself but the smoke was still pretty good. The plant yielded less compact buds than the females that were not pollinated but none of those females received any pollen so it actually worked out well. The hermie yielded a half ounce less than the other females.
