hermie seeds

I'm posting this on the advanced grow section because I want some serious answers to this question. I've already discussed the situation on another thread.

I want to try an experiment. (or see if others have already done it and want to share the experience).

Right now, I've got (2) auto AK's, and (2) auto White Russians. I've just started to flush and I think that I'll be chopping in about 1-2 weeks.

Unfortunately, all 4 hermed on me. I'm going to chop as planned, cure and use for personal smoke. I'm not happy, but it is what it is and it works for me.

I am fairly certain that they all herm'd on me was because of a drought they had when on vacation, i botched the auto h20 system. I'm saying this because, i dont think the reason these herm'd would be due to genetics...all 4?

That said, i thought maybe i should let some of these seeds mature...i could collect and plant them and see what happens. I was thinking that i would chop the 3 complete plants. Take the 4th one and chop most of it...leaving the bottom buds & fan leaves and let them keep growing until seeds mature.

Obviously, I will lose some yield...not really a concern.

So question time *(along with a couple of random thoughts):

1) Has anyone done this? let part of the plant go to seed, and chop half of it.

2) If I get some mature seeds out of these hermies, any thoughts on what the genetics would be like? is that hermie condition triggered by the stress, and only impact the plant, vs. completely altering the genetics in the seeds produced by the plant.

3) I have only missed one nute cycle since i started to flush. I would probably have to get that plant back on nutes to try and keep it strong and growing.

4) If i do decide to try and keep half of that 4th plant alive to let the seeds mature, do you think i should just collect the buds i'm going to cure and try to keep the stems and fan leaves intact. I was thinking that the plant might like to have those extra solar panels for making the seeds.

So I'm just curious if anyone has played around with this? you could also point me in the direction of previous posts, links, etc. if you happen to know of other discussions on this topic.

I know it sucks to get seeds, but all in all, this is turning out really pretty good. These are really healthy plants, i hurt them and they bounced back strong. buds are big, thick, dense, and sticky. I learned a ton from you all on here, reading grow journals for a year. This is good stuff. So thanks in advance for your thoughts.

dont know if it matters:
about day 65 from seed,
FFOF Soil, FF trio
400w hps

the pics: the bud with the lighter is the AK, and the close-up of the seed pods are of the WR's.

I heard some people say that hermie seeds are all genetically hermies, but i have heard that they can also be feminized. I was also wondering about if they would all be hermies, because i have an abundance of seeds fro last years grow and I want to use them.:leaf:
