Hermaphrodites

Yeah Monk's is dead right about many or most seeds in bag's have high tendancy to hermaphrodite for those reasons he mentioned.

Hermaphrodites actually can often occur entirely as genes in the plant, it's not exactly common but plenty of them are out there.
Plants otherwise tend to have varying susceptibility to hermaphroditism. Varying stress levels will cause plants to hermi depending on how their hereditary susceptibility to put it another way.

You don't have to worry about hermi's if it's the last two weeks. Any pollen that lands on flowers shouldn't have enough time to form seeds at all.
total bollocks, if a plant throws pollen on the flower it will produce seed in a matter of a day or 2, and u wont even see them a lot of the time especialy early on the seed will be burried in the bud, hermie is a very toutchy subject,!!!! seed found in bud is mainly when the plant reaches the end of its flower cycle , realised its gunna die and gives a last ditch attemp to pollinate itslef to insure survival, now this is such a toutchy subject because:

1. people dont know and just guess, making the matter even more confusing.

2. some people have grown seed like this with gr8 success!

3. some people have grown seed like this and its been a total disaster.

right in my opinion there is a lot of diff factors with hermies, likw wot made them tern herm in the first place, was it genetics, was it induced by light issues or was it done intentionaly to try and get seed, u just dont know.

i have actualy got 4 bigbud seeds in wich are now 10days old and very healthy at the mo, they also came from my mates bud(we picked a fiew seed from it)
all i can say is give it a go, who knos u may be lucky u may not, but ul be able to answer ur own question by the end ov it ey lol:-P

im going for it, if i get 1 nice healthy fem out of the 4 im gunna clone 8 clones off her and put them all into a nice SCROG mmmmmmmmmmm:weed:

good luck. TAFFO

i dont think hermapphdites are hereditary they either grow with seed in it or it doesent in my case i fucked with the lighting so the females went to seed and almost all the seeds looked feminized so i think its how much stress the plant has to go through becuse thats ushally what cause a plant to go male. from being to stressed. i wonder if the seeds are ne good has anyone had hermies out doors?
You must have super powers. I would love to look into a seed and tell if it is feminized, but i can't. Seeds look all the same depending on maturity and you cant tell sex my looking at the seed

Ok, but nobody answered that one question: If you go around and cut all the pollen sacs off, would everything be ok?

if its just going hermy because its stress or there is a light leak then yes you can just pluck them off and hopefully if the problem that was creating the stress is solved it will stop.
If its a genetic hermy then those balls will keep on coming no matter what you do so it will be hard to get them all..

How long do you have before these pollen sacks pollenate the females and cause them to have seeds. If they go unnoticed will it pollinate the whole crop around it.

you have some really weird plants if they can create male sacks and spread pollen in just hours lol
i didnt say create pollen sacks!!!!!!!!!

if u have sacks and they throw pollen it can literaly take hrs like within 24hrs to start producing seeds, thats true from my own experience!!

it can take seconds. As long as it takes for the pollen to reach the bud.. He asked "How long do you have before these pollen sacks pollenate the females and cause them to have seeds."
The answer is about a week, not just a few hours. Once the pollen is released your time is up.

im still trying to get used to the idea of light leak, i mean fair enuff the darker the better but what about the moon and star light? its very rarely you get a pich black night outside, if light leak was the case for hermies, then growing outside would be a pointless task?? this is my 4th atemp with bb seeds i got off the net,out of my 5 seeds i got 4 males and a hermie,i have replanted the seeds from the hermie 4 times now in my aero system and till 2 weeks ago my finally thought i had female, turned hermie agan lol, if there not male there hermie,so cuming to the conclusion, seeds off a hermie seem to be a bad choice!!

Moon and star light are a different spectrum, from my understanding the plant doesnt see them or use them..

Without a doubt you need a light tight flowering room. By the sounds of it that may be one of your problems. You should get at least 50/50 male to female but 60% female is more accurate. Some times its just luck though. Hell you may get like 10 ladies in a row now

do you have a grow journal?

it could just be stressed out from light or climate change. pluck those balls off and fix the problem. If they stop then your good to go but if they keep on coming, its probably best to get rid of it

Does anybody know for sure if a light leak causes hermies or if light leaks cause as greater % of males? I was under the impression that a light leak would increase the probability of a plant becoming a male. And that hermies are either the bastard offspring of a hermie or from interrupting the light cycle (turning it on to check on them or power outages) or from extreme stress (over heating, over nuting, anything that gives the plant a “near death” experience). Hermies seem to be a way of the plant guaranteeing its survival when it thinks its gonna die soon, that’s why interrupting the light tricks it into seeding? I don’t think light leak would do the same unless it was enough of a light leak for the plant to think it is daytime.
I don’t know, I’m not a botanist or a biologist. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Light leak VS light interruption/extreme stress?

I’m just curious, my grow rooms are separate and sealed and I have been extra cautious about light leak and light interruptions. No hermies yet, knock on wood.

All I can say is that when I first set up my flowerin room I blocked all the light outta there but the light on the power strip was still on. The plant closest to the power strip got male sack on it and it was only the branches that were closest to the light that had them. I may be wrong but I automatically blamed the light leak. I fix it and the balls stopped coming

So if you had a herme plant, and a pure female plant. If the herme ferts the female then you will have femenized seeds from the female plant? xxy and xy make all xy? or just 1/3's hermie male and female? I love genetics, so cool, and so ignored.

this is my third time with my hash plant strain and the first 2 times i got hermies coz of light leak but this time round no balls anywhere so yes light leak = hermies 4 sure !!
