Here to help... Ask me anything

My question is about water, is tap water ok? buy water? I know my water ppm is 563 from my city, thats about all. I'll check my ph when I have a meter. I have the fox farm trio for nutes if that matters, also an organic soil. After seeing a couple of comments about ppm and ro water, I'm very confused and i'm starting to get worked up over it. Please help me

Hey grower, I have a suggestion. I do mine the same way, except I put mine in a zip lock then throw it on top the the fridge towards the back since it gives off a little heat. It has worked every time for me, I guess it might be worth a try for you.

you should get one of those PH testers where you use these drops. I use this and it cost me $15.00 canadian. Im using promix so i dont need a digital one. Trust me you wanna have the PH on as its important for nutriant uptake! My water here in my city is 7 or so and i need it to be around 6.5ish around there. Usually when im done mixing my nutes my PH is in the 5.5-6 area so i use a drop of PH up and im in my range!!! You can also monitor run off water when it comes out of your soil but its tricky if your water is a dark colour from the soil and shit!!

I take it you figured how to wire your PC fans? Cool.

IMO I think you have it backwards, Your exhaust should be at the top and the intake at the bottom. Hot air rises so you will need the exhaust at the top to prevent heat buildup. With the intake at the bottom or the lower part of the cabinet allows for a supply of cool fresh air.

Some people say to make sure the exhaust is bigger than the intake. In my case I have it the other way around and I have no prob's with heat ( steady 76 deg).

Hope this helps?

YO MASTER OF GEN my clones arn't rooting, im new to cloning and cloned a 3 week old flowering white widow. 24 clones done with clonex and root riot cubes. been 2 weeks now and no sign of roots. they are in a heated propogator and i mist em twice daily. they are solely surviving of my mist. any ideas? BTW they are 3 feet away from a 400 watt MH

:bigjoint:High everyone. Just wondering if anyone has a foolproof(hopefully organic) method of getting rid of whiteflies. I am 1 week into flower, and the damn things are having a party with my girls!!:wall:

I have my female on 12/12, well after 12 of dark yesterday, i failed to put under light, so it got 24 total dark, then realized i messed up and put under lights for about 10 minutes. doubted myself and put back in dark for 12 to hopefully jump back on schedule. This will be 36 of dark with 10 min. of light after the first 24. what do I do?
Just put her back on schedule and she will be fine. Have to ask, Do you have a timer? If not, you may want to invest in one. It will be the best $5.00 investment you ever made. My timers gives me peace of mind so I know unless the power goes out, they will stay on track.

Hope it helps!

Can anyone tell me how much of a difference in bud size and weight there is between 4th week of flowering compared to harvest time.?

Are there more calyxes, are the calyxes bigger, will the buds get longer or wider, more trichomes etc.

I realize there are many different strains but in general, what kind of changes should i be expecting.... Its just some bag seed going into 5th week flower and was wondering what to expect besides not much....I get that part. lol

Hi

This is my first grow, I am at week 3-4 can you tell me what would the ideal humidity be for an tent 1.2m square 2m high.

Thanks
Ideal humidity in Veg. is between 50 to 70 percent.. Ideal humidity in flowering should be between 35 and 45 percent.

You can go higher or lower than those numbers but several great authors have shown potency and yield begin to decrease out of those ranges.

As a general rule, beween 70 and 80 degrees F. and above 50% humidity in Veg. and below 50% in flower... Hope this helps.

hey umm was wondering if you could help me with something.......

I am using an aero system and i'm going to have my netpots slightly submerged in the water.

I need to know if there is a difference between these two in my aero system:

1.) putting an inch of hydroton at the bottom of my netpot and then putting my peat pellet on top.

2.) Putting my peat pellet in my net pot and hydroton all around it (apart from underneath it) so that my peat pellet is slightly submerged.

If there is a difference in doing either of these could you please explain.

If one is better than the other could you please explain why/how and which one would be better off.

Thanks all,

Meeth

this is my 1st grow all help needed and tips please....
i have transplanted one time to these bigger pots, used blackgold soil and MG peat moss canadian. i water them about every 2 or 3 das when soil is dry right. I have liked to do organics materials so i blended up some green veggies and fruits, mixed it in with some h20 let that sit for 24hrs then feed it 2 each plant. I am on low budget so dont have the nutrient veg bloom mix yet. i am saving up for a 600wt hps i want to just buy the bulb and hang it vertically in the middle of the ladies will that work right no ballast needed????
give me help

I am not a pro at this but from what I know i'm giving you my opinion/thoughts.

No, HPS bulbs do need ballasts unless they are self-ballasted bulbs but I don't know if any HPS bulbs are self-ballasted and I don't know if you can actually buy them self ballasted.
That is for you to find out.

Vertically hanging it in the middle of your ladies...hmmmmmm.........

It depends how close your ladies are to this light because you gotta keep HID(HPS, MH, etc) bulbs quite a distance away from the plants because they generate LOTS of heat and so will burn your plants.

If you can find a self-ballasted HPS bulb or if you decide to buy the ballast along with the bulb then I suppose you could hang it in the middle of your ladies but you would have to make sure not to get a reflector otherwise it would only shine like to one half of them.

If you wanted to do it w/o a reflector, I don't know if you can actually use them without reflectors, then you'd have to hang it vertically in the middle, make a circle around your light with your ladies and have a few feet between the light and your ladies.

Hope I helped,

Meeth
