Is it feasible to build a box lined with poly and set up a float valve connected to an external res that will gravity feed to maintain a few inches of nutrient solution for a bunch of pots filled with vermiculite and perlite or will the constant unaerated reservoir cause root rot?

Yes it is possible. But I wouldn't want the water to sit there to long. I would gravity feed just past the holes that would be precisely measure in your pots buckets or whatever you are using. Then have a way for it to drain and leave the water in your pots. I guess it would be a flood and drain. Either waste or reclaim.

Would be interesting. Actually a lot of ideas come to mind.

The only way I saw something like this work was in tubs and the lids were cut for the containers (2 liter) The lid held them in place and kept the light and debris out of the rez. Still they were hand watered and the rez was completely used prior to watering again.
