I have plants with weird looking leaves any idea what it could be and some of my plants have roots growing above soil??

Cover the roots and medium with perlite. Don't help the bugs.

First pic shows an Mg issue from my experience. The other pic of your leaf looks like bleaching from a light, but it may be related to the Mg. I wouldn't sweat the roots; it's a fairly common phenomena. If it bothers you, just add more soil around the stem base.
