help would be appreciated

should i prune these or do anything to them? any suggestions? this is my first grow. 400w mh 16 on/8 off. not using any nutes. the bigger plant has had curled leaves for the past few days. this is my first grow. im just looking for any suggestions that you might have. thanks

looks like its over watered.

They are in desperate need of some nitrogen, my friend, so you should worry about that right now. If you top them, it'll only stress them further, which isn't a good idea at the moment. If the PH is okay, then it's time to give them a light dose of some veg fert, or sore worm casting tea, or anything with high nitrogen. Also, it's possible that you've overwatered(as mentioned) and washed out the nutes or are suffocating the roots, so make sure you don't get carried away with that, and make sure you let them dry out before waterings(when the pot gets light, or the top inch or two gets dry), at least once a week. Once they start getting nice and green again, then you can worry about topping them.

Yep, wait til the soil is dry between waterings. That tricks the plant into thinking there is a drought, then when you water or feed, it is craving, and gobbles it up quickly because it thinks it might not get anymore for awhile. A good way to do this is to get used to picking up the pot before and after you water it, then you'll be bale to tell when they need watered just by feeling the pot. You also have to watch so they don't get too dry. It's okay if you are a little late and they are starting to droop a little, they'll recover fine after you water/feed them(it takes about an hour to perk back up). The trick is to get used to watering them right before that happens, which takes a little practice. That is the ideal way to do it.

"Topping" is a method where you cut off the grow tip, and it will split into two grow tips, resulting in two main colas. It's also used to keep the plant shorter, for those who need to do so. There's also the FIM technique, which normally results in 4 main colas, sometimes more.
