I have a 1000w MH bulb and I have a air cooled ventilator with a 6" fan opening and it shielded with glass on the bottom. What cfm should I use? I heard 50cfm for each 100w is this accurate? Also What size of an area could i use to grow and have good yields on a hydroponic system. Also how far away from the plants could i put the lamp if it was well ventilated?

All right! 6 inch air-cooled, that's the hot setup.

500cfm is a little much for 1 hood, It's easiest and best, but most expensive, to use an in-line fan. I think a 6 inch will cost at least 200. If you pull thru the hood, you could go with a 250cfm or so.

A 1K lamp will light an area about 5x5, and with the glass you can put the light lower, as close as 12 inches, but the outsides of the grow will get less light.

I dont understand what that means.
Also Would it help if i reduced the grow area to 4x4 or a tiny bit more to eliminate problem with lack of light on edges?
