lol i see i see i guess as long as you dont have like an actuallll grow in your closet they wont harass you to open it or anything.... do you think that a 1000W would be safe to grow in a apt or condo ?

Ok Pics! This is my cab. It has been used for one full grow White Widow and Misty. I used a 400w HPS. It currently has no means of ventilation or odor control. I would like to set up a veg/clone chamber on the top, but I'm not sure if I have the height, but I probably do. Please let me know what steps I can take to make this a better & stealthier cab.

Dimensions: Height: 59 inches (inch short of five feet)
Width: 18 inches.
Depth: 23 inches

Damn. I wanted to go with t5 bulbs but I'm an inch short. What althernative for a veg chamber is possible. I'd rather not do CFL as it seems like too much wiring.

Peace

haha i don't know. Yea mines not a big grow, enough for two people, but that shit still stinks enough to get me caught if i didn't control it. a 1000 watts is kinda just looking to get caught or arrested in an apartment. I'd never do it and be safe to all those who do.

Boy genius, nice space, looking good. 17.5" is even thinner than my space, look into vertical lighting and scroging around it like i'm doing. I've found its the most efficient use of a tall thin space. I'll be glad to help as well.

I might just have to go with cfl's. Or I could just find a way to make due with one chamber in my cabinet. I definitely don't smoke enough to need continual harvests. I'll just go with a dual ballast and make due with one chamber. All I need now is a few pics of fan set ups and carbon filters.

I grow in a cabinet too. Here is a quick sketch for some ideas. You will need a good fan. I would do that cab as one chamber and build a smaller t-5 veg cab. Good luck!! hope this gives fuel to the fire. :)

Well, someguy gave me the perfect info. Also, I just found an old dresser that would be a nice project for a veg cab(I'll spare you the thread until it's in full use). All I need to do now is get my lights, fan, and carbon filter and go to town. Thank you all for the help and I'll definitely post pics on how I set it up. Too bad I can't grow for a while, but I guess the more I prepare for it the better off I am.
Zip it up and zip it out

Hey boy genius. I forgot to tell you that you can pack insulation of any sort around the fan itself to reduce noise. A regular fan running in my room covers the noise in mine, so you can get the noise factor reduced a bunch if you want. Another tip is to use 12v pc fans for air circulation inside the grow chamber. Have fun modifying your box!

Ok, so I bought a brand spankin' new lumatec 400w HPS. It's a start, now I just need to buy the fan and carbon filter supplies. Does anyone have a checklist for fan supplies? Lordsupreme? I guess I'll go with that S&P 100x? and go from there. Is the 100x model easy to wire? I'm not a genius by any means, so I would like to spare the lives of others by being confident in my set up. Also, how big of a compartment will I need for the fan. The ballast is light and small I like it already.

I would get something like this:
http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52609

Usually you dont have to wire the fans, if you do its easy for 120v operation. Green=ground Black=hot White=Neutral

I recommend the ballast outside the room or stored in the passive exhaust compartment with the filter and fan.

I would wait till you have the equipment in hand before finalizing a dimension for the chamber.

400 will do great in that small space. Ive had good success with mine and it keeps getting better now that I am dialing in this whole cabinet thing. Good luck! I gotta go burn one:joint:

You will need some 4" flexible dryer hose, and the appropriate hose clamps. Hose clamps will need to be slightly larger than 4" I cant remember exactly what size mine were. When I connected my fan to filter there was not a perfect seal between the two and just plain didnt fit snug. I didnt like that at all so I drilled four small pilot holes and put some small screws in each to keep the combo rigid. I then used white duct tape around the connection to keep it all airtight. Wiring the fan consists of three wires and the fan will come with a diagram for how to wire them It is way easy and would be very hard to screw up. You may also need a 4" flange depending on the way you set it up for your to attach the dryer hose to exhaust out of the cab but again this depends on the way you're set up. Fan is 12" in legnth and at its widest point (wire harness/wall mount oppose each other) about 8". I will try to post some pics of mine just to give you some perspective on my setup. Sorry if I kinda jumped around with my info I didnt sleep much last night and kinda birdheaded.

PIC-0010.jpgFirst time posting pics. Hope this worked. Cab is not quite finished if you can't tell. Still need to mount ballast to the back, buy and install bigger dark room vent ( ones I have don't flow enuf), install magna-tot locks to hold the front doors all the way shut, put some prefilter material over intake and exhaust for the cooltube.

this rubbermaid cab really is not that easy to work with. I had to cut the middle shelf out with a jigsaw cause its integrated into the structure. I also had to do a ton of taping to seal it up as it has a ton of holes. I also built a frame around the inside of the opening then used foam pipe insulation around that to seal and lightproof the doors. Right now I got two lr x AK47 in there I thought that would be easy to manage considering height and the fact Im a newb. This cab is gonna be given to a family member who requires medical in a non medical state. I just wanted to work all kinks out before turning it over to her so she has no probs. I'm gonna do one for me later but I'm gonna go taller and probly a metal cab with a slightly diff design. I've got some killer bagseed I think I might play with some lst on or possibly scrog.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I'm a little afraid to make equipment purchases. I just bought a light locally, but a "friend" told me that it is watched constantly and has been tailed before. I wanted to get my fan set-up before my absence over the summer. I do not grow at my listed residence, but would it still be safe to order anything non growing like(fans, ducting) online and have it shipped to my listed address. I did not see anyone follow me and I'm not growing for months from now. Not sure what to do.

That sounds kind of dodgy. Just get a P.O. Box, or have it sent to a friends address and go pick it up if you're worried. You can use money orders as well if you're really worried.

I never stated what I was using my light for when buying it, but I did ask what the name the charge would show up on my CC and the owner just laughed and said "oh no man it only shows up as *******, so don't worry." The "friend" said that the OWNER warned him not to take a direct route home. But I never brought up what it was for; I only asked prices and general questions. It really sucks, because they have good deals and the next closest shop is 2 hours away. I'll just have to borrow a friends car next time. But, I guess my question is buying non-grow accessories(fans) ok to order with a CC?

I finally purchased the inline fan and I was wondering if I need a second fan for circulation? It is a 4in S&P inline fan that pulls 101cfm(high)/97cfm(low). I'm using it mostly for a carbon filter. I am making an upper compartment in my cab to hold my ballast and this fan.

I have a question about making a carbon filter. I have an inline fan that is 4 inches. Should my carbon filter be bigger or smaller than 4 inches? Also what would be a good object to make a carbon filter out of around the house or from wally world?
Thanks
