Help with new sprouts, issue after transplant to rockwool

I am a noob,
-I just sprouted 3 seeds in jiffy/advanced nutrient cubes.
-I added 1/4 strength olivias liquid rooting hormone to distilled water and ph'ed it to 5.5 as directed. I soaked the rockwool cubes in this solution.
-The ppm is at 200ppm
-Room temp is 75-78
-I transplanted them into the rockwool cubes and let them sit in my clonebox.
-I watered 2 days later and noticed this.

What do u guys think?

I just went in there and leaves are starting to twist.

I believe it is a magnesium deficiency due to use of distilled water.

I added 200ppm of cal mag and flushed solution over rockwool.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

looks to me like nitrogen def to me but im defenitly not an expert i would say put the cubes in the system u are planning to grow them in and start off with 1/4 nutes. thats what i would do.

prob best off trying rw cube into a rw cube,not jiffy soilpot in rw cube. Ph should 6 in rw cube. Maybe the variation is affecting them , jiffy ph 7, to rw cube ph 5.5 .

Thanks, Ill look into N def. I dont want to put these in my system yet. I want my "producers" in there. These are bag seed and will probably end up being a waste of space due to bad genes or being male. I am mainly using them to learn different techniques and to try/learn different mediums.

I totally agree! I am 100% noob and have never grown before (I could describe my set up but my journal is in my signature and all is described there). I know a bunch of people who grow locally but they are shady and dont have the same growing practices I would like to use.

All of my mediums were "recomended" to me by (what seems to me) to be the best hydro shop in my area. I found out the jiffy soil thing is a jiffy root shooter?

Just starting out and reading about rockwool and its fluctuations in ph I am a bit nervous to use it as a medium. I do like the stability it has on the base of the plant though. Thats why I didnt just jump at 2x2x2 RW cubes to begin with. But again, this was all before I made my new aero cloner. i like the reliability of jiffys too but you have to start in rw cube sometime as this is your medium(smoother transplant form one to another). If your putting a few outside then use the jiffys.

Ok, Oh well I learned somthing......Dont always trust the guy at the hydro store.

Well with the root system coming off the root shooter I am almost sure the roots are burried into the RW already.

Can anyone suggest a Ph and or nute solution for this to make it survive?

-Theres been no change but I feel there locked up as far as growth goes. Not much going on..

The rockwool needs to stay moist as all times - the jiffy needs to get a bit dry. Thats a bad combination.

Try removing the jiffies and put them in some seedling soil mix.

I was thinking of doing this tomorrow.

just tear the rookwool from the jiffy, don't try to pull out the jiffy.

-Transplanted from RW to 50/50 soil/perlite-

*I removed plastic from RW cube
*I split the RW cube in half
*I gentely pulled as many roots out of the RW as possible
*I transplanted into clear party cups
*They never drooped or got too pissed.
*I kind of think it went ok

-Questions-

*What should I water with?
--My 200ppm well water
--Distilled water?
*What should I alter my ph of what ever water I decide on to? (6.5-7 as standard for soil?)

Your well water should be just fine for a few days.
When they pop roots to the side of the cups give them 350-400 ppm solution.

You need your soil around 6.5. Usually a good soil got a nice buffer that sets the pH to place.

If your solution is between 5-8 pH and you use a good soil brand you shouldn't need to pH the solution at all.

If you'r going to use a lot of chem nutrients and your soil is not that good pH your solution to 6.8 if your nutrients lower the pH (most do). That way when the concentration rise after some water evaporates \ consumed by the plant your pH would be around 6.5.

The spots look like a micronutrient deficiency to me. If you've been using pure distilled water, that would explain it. If you're using well water, I'd assume it has micronutrients already, in which case it's probably a ph problem.
In my experience it's hard to get a good ph reading on water without a decent electronic probe.
I suspect things will improve with the soil mixture, which will buffer. If you can, you might want to stick with that until you get a better feel.
