Help with first indoor grow

Hey RIU!!!! I have been viewing this forum for about 2 months or so and glad to be on here with so many talented growers.

I have been growing outdoor for 8 years now and just tired of all the work involved so I have done a bunch of research and decided to do an indoor grow for the first time. Here is what I was thinking about:

I have a closet that is 3'w x 6'L x 7' h, I want to include clone veg and flower in the one area. I am pushing for a 3' x 4' flower which leaves 2' x 3' x 7' for veg. I would just like to hear some comments on the plans attached any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Good Doctor, I was looking at what carbon filter/fan combo to get and how often to run the venting system is there a formula for that or a calculator for determining this?

only things i see are minor

in the veg room is that 200w actual or equiv?? if equiv you need more for that space.

venting air from inside the growroom to your cooltube will reduce efficiency considerably.
it does remove the need for a double vent system, or having to make the venturi effect work correctly.

put some air filters on those intakes (you can cut up a central ac filter to get the right sizes), helps with dust, insects, and to a tiny degree mold.

seems to me you have alot of wasted space in the upper flowering area, but i cant at the moment think of a more efficient layout.

I would assume you will have some heat issues. Your pulling air thru the carbon filter and exhuasting it out of the box? if so i dont think you will get the flow the vortex requires and may overheat from the temp and the air restriction from the carbon filter.

Thanks Nowitall! I have a 200w cfl (one of the ones they say are rated to 800w mh...not sure about that but wanted to keep the heat down!!!). In your opinion how would you set up this space any different? I am used to mother nature doing this for me and just wanted better options.

IndianRyder, thanks that was one of the reasons I am asking before I start frying up my white russian clones. The only other way I could think of doing this is to use an inline fan and intake/exhaust outside the room throught the sealed hood. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

You are always going to have issues with heat with over 400 watts in a closet. Just get air from outside of the closet, and put the air from in it to the oustide as well. Same for the cool tube. Then you should be ok, just get the air moving. Oscilating fans, etc. If you want, download Jorge Cerventes Ultimate Grow DVD from High Times, good resource for anyone begining any system. He goes through building rooms, closets, outdoors, soil, hydro, high discharge lights, low impact lights, everything pretty much.

It seems basic, but it does cover most of the issues of an indoor grow.

You know tuna you may get some ideas from quickie 420 in canada. i have one. its very similar to what your doing and you can see the air flow travel. look at the Q9 model. heres the website www.quickgrowcanada.com its hard to get it from the mounties.

Thanks Doc and Indian I have gone through all your suggestions and looked at a few different options. I spoke to a hvac friend of mine and he is going to build a chiller unit for me and I am going to isolate the light with an inline 6" fan, and use the carbon scrubber with a 240cfm fan. I should be getting all the stuff this week sometime and will post up how things are working out (gonna do a dry run for three days with nothing in it. thanks again!

Indian +Rep for that link.....

I think I have the idea from that config....I understand from all my research for the space I have it should just be flower for a 600w. I understand the whole heat vs lumens thing but for now I am gonna make that sucker work if anything gonna get rid of the veg flower room (relocate it). But for now I am planning on tanning some tga and serious beans under that hot ass 600w. I am gonna use the fv30 panasonic whisperline inline fan for exaust and a 6" valuline on speed control for the cooling of that hood. Push come to shove a friend of mine is a bit of a HVAC buff and said he could make me a chiller box for the light. What do you think.
