Hi guys,

I have a grow area that is about 48" by 50" by 48" with 8 plants under a 250 watt blue and a 250 watt red Maxibright CFL's.

Pics are from before the second light they are a few days old now, I will get some fresh ones up asap.

My temperatures are sitting around 85 but with highs through the day of up to 96 with two fans running and the door open :S

Humidity is sat at 40 percent and stable.

In a couple of weeks I will be able to afford a fan filter combo but until then I need quick fix temperature solutions !

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers all,

leave a window/door open to ventilate.. if you can have a fan near an open window blowing fresh air towards the cab.. need to circulate

Hey. Get yourself a centrifugal fan and some ducting. This type of fan can be set to extract or intake and normally come with a charcoal filter if purchased from a hydroponics shop, also they dont cost the earth . The size required is based on your grow room size so just tell the guys in the shop, they'll sort you out. Set it up to the underside of your ceiling in the middle of your grow room and run the ducting out through the wall. Set to extract (start with the lowest setting control and adjust to suit your temps) and use your revolving fans you already have to pump air into the grow space from the door. Set these at the level of your plant canopy. Keep an eye on your temp over the next day or two and and adjust the extract fan settings to suit, this will balance your heat and humidity issues guaranteed. ps. if i have helped please give me rep! Cheers

he said in his post (if you actually bothered to read it) he would only be able to afford a fan/filter combo in a few weeks and is looking for a temp quick fix...

Cheers guys, all input is appreciated. Now my cab is actually a bed :S Its a platform bed that has a ladder leading to it meaning it is at the top of the room. The room temperature is nice and cool when you sit in it its only when you go up the ladder to the grow that its gets warm :S I currently have one crap extractor fan and one oscilating desk fan both blowing air out the door. My temp is 89 and rising :P the lights have only been on for a few hours as well.

The temp will peak around 96 which I know is too high.

I can't believe the two CFL's actually kick out that much heat TBH.

Although I say that they seem to be handling it ok, growth rates dont seem too slow (they are recovering from a major neut fuck up on my part I overfed them and burned them with acid)

Someone mentioned bottled frozen water but my freezer isnt big enough and someone mentioned Air con (not an option because of the power and space).

Reckon They can wince and bear it for a week or two ?

Cool, as soon as I get the fan filter I am going to switch over to 12/12 they are quite a bit bigger now than in the previous photos's they are all bagseed and some of them look like they dont mind the heat but one or two dont look too happy about it.

I also have one plant that has a LOT of purple stalks already and non of the others do so I am guessing its genetic :)

Please god dont let them all be male !

Well by rearranging the fan I got the temps to a stable 89 still too hot but the plants look happy enough so I am happy :) having to spray a lot to keep the humidity at 50 but thats no problem.

Cheers for the help guys,

I have a friend of mine coming with 5 PC fans tonight that we plan to make an intake - exhaust cooling system. should be fun. That will mean I can light seal the properly without worrying about temps :)

you might also add a little DYI co2 gen with yeast and sugar in a milk jug to help the plants deal with the heat, i know some ppl run there grows and around 85 - 90 with co. so yeah the little DYI is not gonna provide you with enough to max out there growing potential but i might help with your slightly elevated temps.

also as long as your in veg your not really on a strict time schedule. as long as the temp don't go aver around 95 or so there should be almost no material damage from heat, but rather just a slight stunt in growth. now in flower when your on a schedule to get as big a possible but they finish maturing yeah you don't wanna stunt em but in veg its not a huge deal.

Sounds like you just got to cause circulation by piping your heat out. Hook up an extractor at the hottest point in the grow zone, normally it's at the highest point where the heat collects. And duct it out with some stuff from the Home Supply Store. It won't look pretty, and hooking up this vent system is complicated, but it should drop temps down around 7 or 9 degrees F. GL

well i havent got a quick fix for you but i had a very similar problem ith my first grow using the light units you have. I bought a air cooled unit (enclosed with glass at the bottom) so it was taking the heat away straight away also i got a 4" fan to take cold air in from the loft to the bottom of the grow room. sorted it right out.
