help w/ question

most likely not... if so, then it's going to have a hard time getting through..

yes cheese cloth is nothing to roots...they will grow right through if the cloth hasn't already disintegrated.
It basically just loose spun cotton...lots of folks start seeds in a cotton ball.

EDIT:
the air i assume that would be on the other side of the cloth however would kill the root tips in a heartbeat...air pruning
