I'm looking to install a 12-15 plant set up and was looking at an NFT setup. I was going to use small net pots, square pvc fence posting and pvc running along the inside pumping water to the top so it could drain down and back into the res. were the pump is housed. couple of question:

i heard the incline for a NFT setup is 1 inch of downfall for every 40 inches of tubing. Is this correct?

how long should my tubes be? i plan on having 2 with 6 or 7 in each! so in other words, how far apart should my net pots be set apart from each other?

do i leave the water pumping...and what should the water level be like in the tubes? should it be higher than the netpots and if so...by how much?

EDIT: Also i just built a DWC setup housing 2 in a 10 gallon rubbermaid bin. should be very interesting and will post pictures as soon as i get something going! but please help me with this set up....im moving into a new house and have the space to do what i need! please get me something sick rollin!

how many GPH pump do i need? how big of a res. I want to keep this as small and effficient as poss.

thanks and any help would be completely appreciated!

Check out the General Hydroponics AeroFlo system, that's what you're trying to copy. It would be best to see one working, like at your local hydro shop, mine has one.

When you do it yourself, you have to work out these things for your setup. Like how much sqft of canopy do you want? You can design it to fit your room. Check out the DIY Forum for posts on this.
