Autos on the left from AMS and haze bundle (blue, purple & Super silver haze, and some gold leaf all from ILGM. Up top on the right are (half full baggie) all seeds harvested from a female plant that was cross pollinated by an unknown sativa strain. Top left (full baggie) are “bonsai” seeds that I ordered from wish lol that I’m sure I might get a handful to pop.

You could start your own farm with that lot

@DangerMouse420 please take pic of the trichomes that are on the buds. The trichomes on the leaves always mature 1st.

With that said. Those are not ready speaking potency wise. They are still very clear. It would be too soon.

evening all,

need some guidance, I’m a seasoned smoker but after 20 years I’ve finally decided to DIY my first batch... done some research on when to harvest, pistils are pretty much all brown across the plant, however Trichomes are clear/milky in colour - can’t really pinpoint any amber tri’s?
from the photos do u think I should wait another week or 2 or should I start to flush now?
thanks in advance
DM420,
Welcome to RIU, and congrats for getting this far!
There is definitely a learning curve to this growing thing.
I grow a totally different style than what you are doing, and I am only on my third grow, so keep that in mind when listening to WillieP.

It's really hard to harvest a plant to late, and it's really easy to harvest one to early. Patience is a virtue...and I want it now!
Your girls have a ways yet.
I picked up one of the digital microscopes that connects to your phone, and love it. I grabbed it on Amazon, they come in wired and wireless, and will take this quality of photo.

That photo was taken 10 days before harvest, just as a reference.

On the lights issue, mostly that will depend on the lights that you are using. LED strip lights can be within 3-4 inches from the top of canopy, but there are COB LED's that would fry your plant at that distance, and would need to be at distances closer to those used for HID lighting.
A general rule of thumb is to hold the back of your hand at specific distance from your light for lets say a minute. If it is to warm for your hand, it is to warm for your plant. You always want to start out to high and slowly lower your lights a little bit at a time till you are happy with the height.

I research for 6 months before I started my first grow. (I was waiting on my state to go legal)
One of the site I really like is this one:

I like the way it is setup in tutorial form, and I've gotten a ton of info from there.
I would lastly recommend that you use the search function here on RUI, if you have a question, it has probably already been asked and answered.

That first high from weed that you have grown yourself is a pretty cool feeling.
Good luck,
WillieP

It’s only a baby, think I had the LED’s to far away during growing, it’s been flowering now for 6 nearly 7 weeks....

while I’m hear any recommendations for distance from LED lights, I read somewhere 18-20 inches but speaking to a mate he suggested that was to far and could be why the plants so small

A month tops, but I'd actually be willing to put a small wager on it being a bit less. Usually, if there was a full month to go I'd expect to see more white pistils than red.

But yeah...definitely a at least 1-2 weeks more at a minimum based on the trichs. (Give her a bit more time if she suddenly starts sprouting new white hairs everywhere!)

Looks like there are some newbies like me on this thread. I just ordered this microscope. It takes photos in the microscope that get loaded onto phone. At least I think that's how it works. Only works with Android phones
For $25 this might be the most fun I have this entire lame year

It will only hook up to your phone if you have a USB-C port... other than that gotta hook it up to the laptop/PC. I have the same one.. I got a 15 ft USB extender to hook it up to the laptop and scroll over the plants. Works pretty well tho.

You can also get an adapter and it will work on iphone.
