Hi fellow tokers

I have decided to get a grow going for personal only. My grow space is customisable I was thinking 4x4 maybe 5x5. i was thinking less is more so will plant two soma amnesia haze seeds and scrog em with the aim of trying to get a nice yield.

I want my 1 light source to veg and flower and don't mind diy it myself. from what I read about is they offer high efficiency so decided led is the way to go.

need some answers about led cob lights

1 what wattage to is best to buy? 100w 50w, 30w, 10w,?

2 what spectrum ? are full spectrums best?

3 many would i need for a 4x4 space. is 1 enough?

are the any cheap diy alternatives other than cobs that will work for that space panel?

thank you

are you sure that they can't they be used:fire:
Before you buy anything (or do anything else at all) plan it all out.

Get a piece of paper and a pen.

Sketch out your design. Where your LEDs are going, how many you're having, how many watts you'd like each one to be. How they're mounted onto a frame. How you're cooling them. Have it all drawn out.

Once you have it firmly in your head which (and how many) LEDs you need, then you look into the best way to power them.

You now have it backwards. You have power supplies but don't know how to wire them up. If you're dead set on using them... you could use 2x Meanwell LDH-45B-1050 step up converters off each of your Philips power supplies supplying a Cree CXB3590 each. They would step up the voltage from 24V to a suitable voltage for a COB LED (upto 42V at 1050ma). Beware... this is territory that most people doing DIY COBs have not gone down (usually you have your COBs and power supplies matched before you buy anything). If you're not at all familiar with basic electrical principles then I'd abandon these power supplies and choose an easier path someone has walked along before you. Before you bought those step up converters you'd need your whole setup planned out... no point buying converters which supply upto 42V if you're going to be buying COBs that need 72V.
