No bacteria in my Gen Hydro ferts and I like it that way. Save the microbial life for the soil.

i just put hydroton in a strainer rinse with reg tap water to remove all the clay dust.
As far as ph in hydro, ive had great success with keeping it between 5.8 to 6.2, with 6.0 being what i aim for regularly!
