So this is is my second indoor closet cfl grow. I have treated all plants the same the only variables are when they were germinated. I recently topped/fimmed four of my six plants, and two of these are looking quite sickly. To me it appears like they are overwatered, but then again I admit I don't know everything....I have been told by others that it is just the shock for the topping/fimming, and they will recover, but it has been almost 1.5 weeks and they aren't recovering, if anything they are looking worse. Here's the details:
Fox farm soil and nutes in 5 gallon smartpots, 3 nirvana northern lights, 1 paradise delahaze, 1 dinafem white widow, and 1 dinafem cheese. R/o water twice a week or more as needed (usually a half gallon a week over the six pots), and nutes about half that. I haven't been ph testing, or keeping exact water measurements. I am using 11 23w 5700k cfls and 3 23w 2700k cfls. 18/6 light schedule with a small circulating fan keeping temp around 80-85 and humidity around 40.

Here's pics of my setup and plants (I think you'll be able to tell which are the sick plants pretty easily)...is there anything I can do to save them from a premature death??? They haven't been watered in 7 days, and still look like this as of yesterday. PLEASE HELP!!!! By the way any comments on how the rest are looking is much appreciated!!!

some of your girls look very thirsty.
I'm sure you have used these smart pots before.
If not they need more watering more frequently and a lot more that 1/2 gal split over 6 plant in a week
you are using 5 gal pots...more water.
I would give them a good drenching..not a flush. maybe , if you like take the worst and give her a good water and see if she responds as a test.

good luck

your right i haven't....i heard it was hard to f' up plants with smartpots...but i seem to have done it....even water the droopy ones?

so you think its underwatering? I've been so afraid to overwater, based on what i read, thats how most people kill their plants...

so is that a consensus on this one...not enough liquids....man i've been thinking completely opposite...(this is weed right...why won't it just grow like one?!?!?!?)

well i just watered the shit outta my ladies...til they leaking through the bottom...will keep updated to see if it works

go feel their weight. when they are very light in weight, water the same way. drink, breathe, drink, breathe, etc.

ya i've been going with the lift method/finger dip method: however, they always feel heavy, and so I just mist....When I water the twice a week it should come out the bottom right, there should be run off...b/c as of now there hasn't been. At most just some moisture on my bottom tray

All I have to say is thank you RIU....In less than 24 hours my two plants of concern have gone from this....

I know the first plant still looks a little sickly, gonna try watering it tomorrow and see what happens, but the transformation of the second plants has been crazy....thanks for the help all!!!!

haha water them man! My plants did this when I put them into flower. They were droopy and limp and I was freaking out. Turns out they were just thirsty. . . over water and underwatered look just about the same.

Well didn't read all comments first. I'm still posting this.

ya i thought i was overwatering and drowning my bitches....turns out i was putting them in a desert....lesson learned!!!

I do a lot of finger fucking my pots. I just ram my finger in the soil. If it is dry as far as I can poke then they need water. I've found that some plants drink less than others. I have one plant that I swear is part cactus. That bitch will stay wet for an entire week whilst I've already fed and watered the others 3 times.

ya thats what i been going with...finger banging/lift method...I guess i thought less water was more based on what I read, sometimes i think I've read/learned too much and if I went with common sense this would be alot easier....as many have said before lost track of the tree for viewing the forest, take advice and techniques you read about with a grain of salt

They are over fed and overwatered..often the 2 go hand in hand..we feed when we water, so if you are doing it too frequently then, well just that--you are doing it too frequently..both..feeding and watering..the droopiness is caused by both things, but the withered up leaves are just nute burn...so...water and feed less...and it will be fine...

Oh and I want both my +rep and Eternal Gratitude...the EG is really what I am here for...lol

Sigworthy right there. I absolutely take everything I'm told with a grain of salt. Like I cut the N out of my plants the other day and I don't like how yellow it is making them even though they are fixin to get chopped and some people flush for 2 weeks. Fuck alla that. I'm gonna give em a bit of N they are dieing.

Also with CFLs you have to water so much less than people using HID lighting, so sometimes advised schedules aren't right for everyone...
