Hey everyone, this is my first grow and I was wondering if anyone could just comment on my grow thus far or provide any tips. This is a lemon skunk from DNA genetics about 5
weeks and 3 days into flowering using DWC. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use flora nova bloom nutes from GH with the flora nova Floralicious.

Looks kinda stretchy. What light setup are you using?? Other than looking kinda stretched and thin on buds sites it looks o.k.

To give ya an idea what correct lights will do. compare your 38 days in flower to my 30 days in flower I took this morning

Yea I knew they were stretchy, I use a 400W HPS but I got a conversion bulb to make it MH. I think my HPS is sort of old because it has a black residue inside of the bulb which I hear means that its going bad... But I dont have the $80 bucks to buy a new bulb right now the the light system is from HGT supply. I didnt do any trimming of the lower parts of the plant (is that what you did) like I said its my first grow so next time ill have a better hydro system and better lights/new lights. Do you think ill still be able to harvest by the end of this month?

thats your prob. MH bulbs give off more of the blue(veg) colour than the red(bloom), hps is the opposite, if you can use mh for veg and hps for flowering...you can also get hps dual spectrum. hps bulbs are a bit more efficiant and give off less heat

For a quick fix you can get a 400w HPS bulb at Home Depot for around 18 bucks. there is a special going on at dchydro.com I just saw 400wHPS plantMax grow light bulbs for under $8.00

The plantMax brand isn't a bad brand either. I use their 600w HPS bulbs in my 6 x 600w Quantum ballasts in my flower room with pretty good results.

I would rather just hold off on buying a cheap bulb in fear that it would just go bad fast. But I did not use the MH through flowering, I switched to the HPS like a week prior to 12/12... along with blending the GH grow and bloom for the transition so I would not shock my baby. So ill just save up for a good reliable bulb rather than a cheap one off ebay with less light output. I think the buds look good aside from the plant being lankey the ones that are growing are pretty big and look tight. Aside from that I like the popcorn nuggz (probably the minority here) I just think they look nice in the bag. I will have the money for the new bulb by next week and I want to get the new HPS, do you all think it would help at all?
Oh and by the way thanks everyone for the help I have been wondering about this for a while and do appreciate the info.

Just to clarify...you said "less light output"
The key your looking for is lumen output. When you look at the lumen output this can be misleading. Example. HTG Supply has a house brand of 400w HPS (24.95). Its initial lumen output is 55,000 lumen. But that is the lumen output if you were to put your plant right on top of the bulb as we all know you can't do. As you raise your light to a height that will not harm your plants the lumen output reaching your plant diminishes to the point that your original 55,000 lumens has now diminished to say 40 to 45000 lumens. Keep in mind that this is just a hypothetical example. I seen somewhere on this forum a light chart giving exact lumen loss in respect to wattage bulb and distance from plants.

I did not know the lumens went down as the light rises thats interesting... Well it may have stretched so much because I left the plant alone in the closet for a week when I was on break and I did not want it to grow into the light and torch it! that would not be good at all, but It did get some bad wind burn bacause I left a fan in the grow closet for 4 days while i was gone and I was just happy that she survived! I am going to buy some T5 fixtures just for veg growth but I have to start planning/ building my new hydro system. I am not going to be doing DWC anymore its to hard once the plants get large so get them out and not have it tip over.. Last time I changed the water my bubble stone was tangled up in the roots and ripped a few out when I took the stone out! PLUS it got clogged and was not putting oxgen into the water(good thing I cought it in time) but my next grow will be starting in a few months and I will be creating a grow journal, which I should have done now but it was a learning experience and i did learn ALOT so I am happy. It should still yield pretty good but anyway I would appreciate if you were to follow my journal for the next grow and put me in check if I am fucking up at all.

thanks tat2ue!
