You're essentially growing in coco. You can't let coco dry out like your photo is showing. You need to correct your irrigation problem. It's hard to solve anything else until you correct that. Increase the frequency of irrigation to correct your drying out problem. Your plants may need nothing more than that, but you won't know until you get your irrigation situation under control. It sounds like you were hand watering before without issue? Now you're growing more plants which necessitated an auto irrigation system is what I'm hearing. Now you have a problem and the auto irrigation is the only variable that changed. Either go back to hand watering or correct your auto irrigation.
