above a fan leaf a branch will grow this is called a node when the plant is put in the flowering stage this node will grow into a bud my420bud if u are taking a pic so others can help u tell if its a male or a female i would take a close up pic of 1 node and make sure its in focus and the reason i told u to let it get bigger is so u can have a healthy yield the bigger the plant the bigger the buds

what light schedule do u use 18 hours on 6 hours off is recommended for the vegatative stage and 12 hours on and 12 hours off is the norm for the flowering stage when u go from 18/6 to 12/12 ur plant will flower and show its sex (male or female) it may take a few days to show good sized pistils (hairs)

yes look under the fan leafs and usually u can tell if its female DURING the flowerng stage but vegitational stage usually u cant tell its sex, u should switch the light cycle to 12/12 and wait approx. 1 week and u should get some signs (if u look at it with a magnifying glass like proffesor Burns stated before) just take a magnifying glass and stick in over the camera lens and then take the picture when its in focus and u can open the picture and zoom in on the space u want to look on the stem for sex(balls or hairs) hopefully its a girl dudee name her like smelly sally or some shit lol thats what me and my buddy called this girl in school a few years back lol:P much luck bro
