Help choosing new growing method will make a journal

OK guys I just finished making a sip pot frim a tote, it's an experiment I have been wanting to try! I plan to use it for a mother that I'd like to keep alive for at least a year!

My decision to make is either going just plain no till with cover and companion crop or this other method by Alan akkission the owner of grokashi, that uses a living soil feeds only em1 once a week and has compost and mycelium layers on the top and covered 24/7 with a trash bag or "shower cap"

I don't know if you guys have heard of that yet but it looks pretty cool! I'm just torn between these two methods and sadly I can only try one right now bc of space!

I use inntainers and no till with leaves as cover to keep the soil moist. so easy! A lot of folks drill a grid of holes in the water "cover" to help the roots become "water roots" but it looks like you are on track! you should check out the SIP thread, there are a bunch of us on there (kinda dead atm but maybe some new blood could pump some life back into the thread lol) and a TON of info and SIP builds.

Lol, I never notice my feet are in my pics until after I take them.
You have very handsome feet though
So its all good.
 
How do you get the right fungal inoculation to start this method?

Can you use older manure or does it have to be fresh?

I'm trying to hunt down that info now! From what u have heard they all use Malibu compost!

From the very Lil information I've been able to track down they use a living soil! The top dress with compost and grokashi, they do 2 layers atleast once the first layer of mycelium grows! Then after they use a compost ewc slurry and imitate cow droppings on the top in big globs then cover it up! I have also heard ppl add top dressings as well! I wish I knew more this info isn't posted everywhere and hard to find!
