Help choosing a heat sink

Hey All,

What size heat sink would I need for a single cxb3590 run at about 62 watts?

My plan is to start with 4 COBS run on a 240-1400. I'd like the heat sinks and cobs to be separate, so that I can adjust their placement relative to each other.

Do they make a dimmable 240-1400?

I will likely put an 80mm fan on each unit, but I'd like the heat sinks to be able to run passively safely, should the fan fail.

I'd appreciate any ideas about low weight ways to connect the modules.

Also, Growmau5 (or maybe mau5capades) posted a list of parts for his build at one point, and I can't seem to find it. Please repost if any of you know where it is.

I'm not sure if this is possible. If it is, and if you've seen something similar, please link.

Basically, while I only have 4 COBS, I'm trying to run the CXB 3590s at 60ish watts. As I get more COBs, I'll run them lower. So at that time, I'd like to be able to add another few modules to increase PPFD.

Also, is there a Colorado thread or exchange? Is it active?

I believe it's 17 inches sq per heat watt. I'm not the most knowledgeable on the subject, but I'll try to get you on track until someone else can chime in.
I believe the cxb3590 run at about 56% efficient at 1400 ma. So, about 28 heat watts. 28 X 17= 476inches sq per cob.

It's listed under medical on the main page. Then by state. Resonably active.

I don't want to take credit for this, it is from @SupraSPL 's thread titled CXB3590 1500W on page 2 half way down....

(4) CXB3590 3500K CD 36V @ 1.4A (49W ea) $190
(1) HLG-185H-C1400 $65
196 dissipation W -> 85.7W heat ->
passive cooled heatsink 10284cm² -> 5.88" X 38" heatsink $72 (could split in 2 to improve uniformity/spread)
or
active cooled heatsink 3428cm² min -> 3.5"X36" heatsink (for spread) $45 +80mm fan +psu $10
(4) lenses $16
110.3 PAR W covering 6ft² = 824 PPFD
$311 = $3.07/PAR W passive cooled (great value point IMO, very efficient use of driver)
$326 = 2.96/PAR W active cooled

I have been researching for a couple months now and have found that @SupraSPL @Growmau5 @Greengenes707 are some of the most knowledgeable people on the thread. Check out the Tech Talks on @Greengenes707 Youtube channel between himself, @Growmau5 and @robincnn if you really want to learn some in depth info.

i am in the process of building a light with four cxb3590 72v meanwell hlg184h c700b and a prolimatech 140 mm fan. i purchased a heatsink from heatsink usa at 5.886 x 24. they gave me the conversion chart which i can not make any sense of. new to diy leds. if possible i would like to put five cobs on this heatsink( 4cxb3590 @50w each and one cxa2530 @50w) cxa would be powered by meanwell lpc 60 1400. here are the conversioncharts they sent me, can someone please help me make sense of thisimage.pngimage.png
