help and advice

:weed::leaf: this is my second attempt at growing in the aerogarden and second attempt period. this first attempt i was growing papaya and it was going well. I had it set up in a rubbermaid storage closet like 4 feet wide 2 to 3 feet in deepth and and around 6 feet high. i have mylared it and have a fan hanging from the top. the plants had gotting too tall for the light so i detached the light and bought a new cord and plug the light in seperately. i rigged the light to hang from the ceiling of the cabinet unfortunatly it fell on the plants and that was that. the only concern i had was on one of the papaya plants at the bottom of the stem it looked like it formed a woody almost dead looking spot all the way around the stem a quarter of an inch wide. Now the reason i bring this up is its now on my second attempt.....so for my second attempt we lived and learned from the first. im now growing 3 blue mystics and one kaya gold (suppose to be two but the second never came up). all the seeds were feminized from a site i got them from. so now I cleaned out the aerogarden real good before doing this. got it started within four days they were sprouted .. theyve been doing really good its 3 days away from the end of the fifth week. the tallest plant is 13 inches tall one of the blue mystics...the two outer plants on the aerogarden in the front are blue mystics as well and they are about 6 to 7 inches tall and the middle one is the kaya gold and its shading more then the rest so its the smallest plant or could just be growing slower being its a different kind of weed. Now like i said they all seem to be doing good except i have that same issue back from the first grow where it looks like one of the plants on the bottom of the stem has that woody almost dead look about a quarter inch in width going all the way around the stem. if you look at my pictures on my profile you will see one of the pictures i tried to get as clear of a shot as i could with my crappy phone. this is my main concern. is there something wrong? is the plant suppose to do that?

Now also i was using two shop ballist in the cabinet 4 feet tall each leaning against the corners with a total of four four feet daylight t 12s in there but seemed to get awfully hot so i shut them off and rigged something to go around the aerogarden so the plants wouldnt lean (afraid that the stems would break from the weight as they got taller) and then also put the aero garden light back on with the cord i had purchased from the first attempt. so i have just the aerogarden light going right now. being that i dont really know what im doing i could use some advice about lighting if anyone could take the time.
Now all i did for these plants was follow the exact instructions of the aerogarden. putting the nutrient tablets in when they said filling them with regular tap water. sometimes some poland springs when theres some in my room. i know ive been reading everyone saying to switch nutrients but they seem to be doing just fine..my room stays between 72 degrees F and 78 degrees F but not sure what it gets to in the cabinet. like i said im new at this so any advice would be great!

I have read that the AG nutes build up in areas and then release and can burn your plants. You need to post your pics in here because when I click on your thumbs they dont expand for some reason and people will tend to stick around and help you if there are pics involved. From what I can see of the base of your stem, I have something similar. People have said it is from air circulating and the plant moving. If it starts rotting then I would worry. But mine looks the same from what I could tell from the thumbnail. You also want to add more CFLs other than what the AG supplies. You want full spectrum or or daylight for veg and then when you switch to 12/12 you switch with a 2700k colored bullb with more red in it. And remember the more watts the better. So as much as you can afford and add without burning up your plants. You also want a thermometer/hygrometer. And a decent fan if you don't have one already and some ventilation. Plus so much more. The better you take care of them the better theyll take care of you. The good news is you can get almost everything you need at Walmart or Home Depot and for pretty cheap.
Post some pics and I am sure more people will chime in. Good luck.

thanks for the reply.....the lighting you are talking about sounds foreign to me lol...im really new at this thats why i got the aerogarden figuring it would be easier lol....so the four foot ballist i have in there in the back corners is not good then? the have 2 bulbs each and have a daylight t12 bulbs in them....i shut them off though cause i thought it was getting too hot so im def going to invest in that thermometer you were talking about.....im going to post this reply and then try and post some pics in here like you said...thanks again for your reply

thats the set up see the two lights on the side ..the bulbs itself dont get home but when you open the doors it throws off some heat from the inside...
thats the plant i was talking about with the stem problem

Looks good. The daylight t-12 should be good as long as it isnt getting too hot. You can get a cheap hygrometer/thermometer that records the highest and lowest temps for like $5 at walmart. They're cheap and I found mine with the thermostats and other thermometers and such in the hardware section. Good luck.

Looking good. You should've already started flowering. heh 12 hours light on 12 hours off will make it flower unless it is auto-flowering.

Read this and call us in the morning heh.

That post will answer most of your questions and what it doesn't answer, there are links to that. And as long as you keep posting pics everyone will keep watching. Most just lurk and don't say anything cuz theyre baked out of their tits. lol Good Luck.

wow looks amazing
as for flowering it can be done at any point past 3 to 4 weeks of veg or plants 18 inches or taller as for lighting it changes to 12 on 12 off as for the type of lighting u can switch to a more red spectrum type if u want it can help
